So I just built a new Noveske lower and I installed a Magpul ASAP QD endplate and the thing is way harder steel than any of my other endplates. My center punch barely makes a nick in the metal, and I have staked several other castle nuts. Does anyone have any experience with these or some more heavy duty tools that can help me out? I wouldn't even be opposed to paying someone in the area that might have a pneumatic press like the MFGRs use.
Any help or guidance at all would be appreciated. This is getting frustrating |

I share your anguish. I do hate staking the castle nut.
I just went to copious amounts of red loctite and 30ftlbs of torque. The BCM KMR wrench is awesome for putting the correct torque on castle nuts. A heat gut will take the castle nut right off but it ain't going anywhere unless you get it to 400 degrees. |
| I'm running it as is for now and it hasn't had a problem in about 500rds so far. I put an LWRC M6A2 upper on it. I built it as my SHTF gun, so staking it will be in the future. I want to avoid any possible issues. But, like I said, no problems yet. I did torque it properly, I'm pretty anal about torque numbers. I know too many guys that don't even own a torque wrench and it is a cause of a lot of failures and broken parts SMH |

Sorry to hijack your thread, but is it 40 inch lbs or 40 ft lbs regarding the castle nut (when torquing)? It sounds like you guys have done this before, I'm getting ready for my 1st. EDIT: (forgot an important word) ftlbs - Anything you see that says inlbs is from a misprinted technical manual. |
