Simple question for the AZHTF . I'm in the Legislative District: 16 . So the vote seems to be between Doug Coleman & Kelly Townsend for AZ State Representative.

They both claim to be 2nd Amendment supporters. They both talk the talk, but does anyone know better about them?

Kelly Townsend Info: I am proud to have been your voice at the Legislature, working hard to protect jobs, education, liberty, and family values. Our policies are effective, as unemployment in Arizona is down and Arizona is now #1 in new job creation. We’re also #1 nationally for new startups and #6 for overall economic environment. While some may say Arizona isn’t moving “into the future of renewable energy,” I am proud to say that Arizona is now the #1 state in the nation for solar energy. I’m optimistic about our future because in just my first two-year term I passed legislation that toughens the penalties for identity theft, protects veterans’ combat related injury pay, and gives law enforcement better access to CPS files so they can investigate child abuse claims. I supported bringing Apple to our district and tax simplification for businesses. I won both the Hero of the Taxpayer and the Friend of the Family awards. I ask for your vote so I can continue to focus on job creation, protecting taxpayers, fighting illegal immigration and improving education. You can count on me to keep my word and do what’s right for our great State. Thank you!

Doug Coleman Info: I have appreciated the opportunity to serve in the State House of Representatives. My first priority is working on issues that are most important to the people I represent. Many in our district have told me they are concerned about the economy, education, and public safety. I have worked for sensible policies that restore our economy and create jobs. This is critical to the wellbeing of those in our district. Providing excellent educational opportunities and safe neighborhoods is also vital to the individuals, families and businesses in our communities and I have worked diligently on these issues. My experience includes serving on a City Council and as Mayor for twelve years. I have also been a high school teacher for more than thirty years and taught a variety of courses including business, accounting, law, and the Constitution. I have also been involved in agriculture and small business. My family has deep roots in this area, having moved to Mesa in 1878. This election is important and who you vote for will determine the direction of our state. I am a social conservative, pro-life, a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and understand the importance of protecting our rights and freedoms.

AZ State Senator vote will be for David Farnsworth.

Doug Ducey is the only choice for Governor.

All other votes will also be for Republican candidates ( lesser of the two evils & no " Throw away" or make a "Statement votes" for me. )

Whats the wisdom of the AZHTF?  Coleman or Townsend?

Sorry for the slow reply.

I'm not sure if both are in the running?

That's how it seems to me. I could be wrong though.

Right to keep and bear arms.  It's too bad I'm a he-man woman hater, I'd probably vote for her.  Does she kill stuff and eat it?  Might change my mind.  Gonna be tough, though, Doug's an eagle scout and a Duncan yo-yo champion.  That's hard to beat.

Hmmm.  Kelly wants to let military teenagers carry sneaky guns.  Good for her but what about the kids that got a scholarship to a University.  What makes them not qualified?  They just too smart to carry?  I'm not bashing the military but I went the scholarship route and I'm not feelin' it.

LOL! Awesome.

RKBA " Right to keep & bear arms" Of course. Had a brain fart moment.

They both have some good stuff & some bad stuff for me as well. I get worried that someone like Doug might have been "Influenced" by the time he spent as a school teacher. Socialist / Liberal environment.   And the " Yo-yo Champ " definitely does not help. Trumps the Eagle Scout part.

Kelly, well… Being a born sammich maker isn't helpful either for me as well. But, she sounds like she wants good things for AZ & the USA.

This is a tough one.

HA!  You didn't like his Yo-Yo champion qualification?

I'd probably vote for Kelly and give her a chance.  It's a hard to trust a guy with an ugly wife.  Something going on there, maybe a Petraeus thing.    Oh wait!  He's LDS!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Coleman  That changes things for me.  Got to give a Brother some love (most of us love guns, it's a massacre thing).  Lot's of Latter Day Saints in that district, he'll have a tough time loosing me thinks.

Although, Kelly works well with Mormons (although some say she doesn't).  People have given testimony.  It's a toss-up.  HA!

I'm leaning towards Kelly.  A guy named Doug & a yo-yo champ is not working for me.

I think he's appealing to his main constituency with the Eagle Scout (important in the LDS culture) and Yo-Yo Champ, a whimsical activity (again very common in the LDS culture).  There's a lot of America's Got Talent in the Church.

He reminds me of a friend who's equally talented as a physician and community theater performer (also an Eagle Scout).  He also likes guns.  It's a Mormon thing.

Vote for both. State rep has two open slots. Three candidates total are running for these two seats, two Rep, one Dem. Both the Republicans are incumbents.

An "undervote" (only voting for one candidate) would only help the Democratic challenger, who is running for one of those seats.
