Will be visiting Prescott and surrounding areas in a couple of weeks for some r&r, and to look at possible relocation in the future.
It is my understanding that it gets windy out there, and that it is less windy to the south and west of Prescott. Would that be true? Any comments regarding that issue (or any other advice/observations/etc.) would be quite welcome. Thanks, pj |

It's really only windy here in the early spring (mostly), and it's windy everywhere.
But it's nothing to really worry about. Average Wind Speed (not including gusts which sometimes will hit 40mph):

Thanks for the input, guys. Looks like the monsoon season is starting, which is good. We're going to hit the Verde River for some kayaking, so some more flow would be nice. Researching places to eat in Prescott, at the moment. pj |

Got Lone Spur on the list for breakfast or lunch, but they don't do dinner (at least when we will be in Prescott). For dinner, any thoughts? On the radar so far are Murphy's, Prescott Brewing Co., Bill's Grill, and Texas Roadhouse... pj Personally I like Murphy's and the Prescott Brewing Co. - you should try both..... You can go to a Texas Roadhouse anywhere, I've never been to Bill's Grill so I can't comment on that one. |

Oddly enough, there is a lack of just good restaurants in Prescott. There are a few, but not many ones I consider great. Lone Spur is good as well as Murphy's and Bills is good, but there is no real greek restaurant, and the Indian place downtown is ok.
As to wind, I don't find it really that windy here. At least I have never thought it was. All in all, it is a decent place to live. |

OK...one week to go.
We'll have an evening and then one day in Prescott itself. Downtown is a given, but what parts of the surrounding areas would you recommend touring? We're trying to get an idea as to where we would want to live; we think that it would be to the west or south of Prescott. So, it looks like a drive on Iron Springs Road would be good...any other suggestions? We're getting excited about the visit...can't wait! pj |

Lonespur Cafe, thank me later. We took a Virginia member there, he and his wife loved it. Quoted:

probably to late to chime in, but the firehouse kitchen on the back side of whiskey row is pretty good, especially during happy hour el gato azul just a block down i hear good thigns about too as for drives, yeah you can go down iron springs, thru skull valley then kirkland and back up thru wilhoit, the last section is white spar road and its crazy twisty if you have a sporting car perkinsville road was a favorite back in college, we'd take it and keep goin on trails almost to sedona |
