I'm no master prepper-far from it in fact. So with that caveat, here's what I would look at:

How are you on ammo and mags? You've got long guns covered, now just gotta keep them fed.

Have a reliable sidearm? If not look there. You can't carry a rifle everywhere. If you have one, see above.

I am a big fan of shotguns. If above are covered, find a Rem 870 or Mossy 500. Semi auto shoguns break. Stick with a pump.

Once you have all these, take your leftover cash and take some classes. Make one of these an IFAK class with a kit you can carry on you at all times. Lots of guns don't help when you're bleeding out.

After classes, evaluate what worked and what needs changed. Save up and spend on these items.

NFA stuff is toys in my eyes. Yes-there are tactical advantages, but that money is better allocated elsewhere.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I do have a few sidearms. I have small ammo stockpile but  that could always use supplementing. I wasnt sure about shot guns but I like things that dont break. So I will look at the mossy 500. . I'll keep looking ! Much appreciated..

Prepping is much more than guns & ammo. They have their place, but they'll do you little good after you've died of dehydration....

If you have the firearms basics covered, it's time to move on to water, then food.

Get the dehydrated stuff, then if you bug out it is lighter and when you get where you are going, you can just rehydrate it by adding water.

Thank you all. I have food for a few months squirreled away, my wife thinks i am nuts.. sigh.. but thats a good idea on the dehydrated stuff.. I will look into that. I did the whole precious metals route for a bit ..I guess the more I read the news the more paranoid I wound up getting. Thank you also for the videos, they were very helpful as well. :) Much respect.

Food is always good to have....when construction went belly up we cut our food bill to almost nothing and lived about 60% on stored goods for a few weeks. Kids got sick of beans/rice/noodles but it enabled me to get back on my feet without worrying about where we were going to eat. Remember being "prepared" is not dependent on a societal emergency, you can have your own crisis and deal with it. It is SMART not paranoid to know "bad shit can happen to anyone at anytime.

Just remember that nothing you get for preps is worth a damn if you don't train and practice with it beforehand. I'm not just talking about firearms here - if you don't know how your 'prepper' meals are going to affect your digestive system, how to conserve water when rehydrating food, how to use your water filters, how to dispose of waste when toilets don't flush, etc, then you will be very sad when the lights go out and you have to do it for real.

Those who fail to prepare are preparing to fail.

Also, 10 rounds and a dead's man rucksack, etc.
