Hey guys.
I don't post much but am in the process of assembling my first AR. Waiting on a few final parts before assembling the upper.
Does anyone have any headspace gauges (5.56)who would be willing to help me headspacing my rifle. Daniel defense BCG and 16" chf barrel. All unassembled at this point.
Located in NW valley. Case of beer of your choice.
Appreciate any help.

Unless you are trying to fit a barrel extension, nothing can be done to the head spacing on the AR platform except swapping bolts or reaming the chamber.

There's no need to headspace your gun. Unless it was manufactured WAAAAYYYY out of spec you'll be fine. As mentioned, there's really not much you can do about it anyway. It would certainly be cheaper to swap parts than to have work done on the gun.

There are a few schools of thought on this. In my mind, checking head spacing is absolutely necessary. I don't care if the barrel and BCG came from the crack of Zeus's ass. I'm checking.

I have, in the past, had four barrels from the same lot fail no-go checks and pass go checks. The barrel manufacture, who is very high quality, explained that they check head spacing 200% and there was no way they are bad. Long story short, sent them back and they failed their own QC. Got four new barrels sent out immediately and they passed just fine.

Even NASA can make mistakes and even DD can miss something. Spending $70 on some PTG go and no-go gauges is cheap insurance and very simple to use. Every upper and barrel that goes out my door is checked.

Those are quality parts. Lots of gun shops will do it for free since its a safety issue.

Usery does mine for free.

When I don't have proper gauges handy.....

I cycle a new round, should go in and out smoothly.
Then I cycle a spent shell, should go in fine, but be a b*tch and a half to get out manually.

If both happen, it's headspaced fine.

Just my .02, your results may vary.

Where are you located? I'm in north phx. I run Manson gauges. 5 minutes and 60 dollars worth of gauges could save you weeks and many medical bills.
