Some report this thing might be a technicality, but the lamestream news reports this as tho the Supreme's have ruled that State Laws cannot be stricter than Federal Laws.... lets run with that!

How about tomorrow 9AM, NRA files a lawsuit against every single state and local government that has gun laws stricter than federal law! And uses this ruling as precedent!

Just a thought.

Precisely my thought when I read the reasoning behind it.

The problem is this makes sense and is logical.

It is my understanding that the ruling states that if you register to vote with a federal form, you can not be forced to show ID.

If you register with a State form, you can be forced to show ID.

The only question is can everyone be forced to register, or re-register using only the state form.

All this will do is cause more voter fraud ,and allow those who want to cheat the system benefit. These are strange times indeed.

And the answer is no they cannot.

So this is just another step in the destruction of the US.

Doesn't AZ still require an AZDL to vote?  And, isn't a birth certificate, proving citizenship, required to get an AZDL?

The ruling has citied that a state can not force a voter to show more proof than the Federal government requires for a Federal election, ex: Presidential election. Although, it does allow the state to require further proof for state elections, ex: mayoral, city council, or county supervisor.

This makes some sense because Federal elections tend to cover vast areas compared to state level elections. It would also keep voters from trying to register in districts they don't belong to. The wishy washyness of the SC is starting to make me upset. You have rulings such as the past few gun related cases that lean very left, and then we get this one that seems almost as if it is a constitutionalist view.

What gun rulings have leaned left?

Heller with the opinion that some controlling is ok.

The main point is that the SC took a constitutional view with this ruling, but has not done so with other cases being brought before the Court.
