I haven't hunted anything big with it, but you are probably going to want a mid-weight soft bullet. I've had good luck with the Hornady 150 SP over AA1680.

Why? I'm assuming your rifle will be suppressed. Planning on getting close to take the shot?

Whitetail or muledeer? Whitetail you can go as low as you want. I hunted last year with my 223 60 gr nosler partitions and had 110% confidence. I'd use a 90-125gr 30cal bullet without losing any sleep.

Muleys id take 125+ gr

Ragedracer wants to use his AR for muleys this fall. With a hot load is use 60gr partitions on muleys. My sister took her muley with 85gr PSP .243 dropped like a ton of bricks.

I used my .257 Wby & 120grn Partitions for my whitetail last year, so I think I'll go up a bit.  .300 H&H with 200grn Partitions it is.

I was looking at the 62gr or 70gr Barnes TSX.

Pushed hard, it should get the job done.  I know I can put the bullet where I want it....

i cant think of many places you will get a long enough shot for that round to be a problem.  I use 7 mag because it drops the shit out of everything without hesitiation but 300 should work just fine. only had a couple of shots in my life I would need something better and fortunately I did which is why I always take th 7 mag hunting

This is my first hunt and I figure something in the 150-170 gr should do just fine. I will site the rifle in for 100 yards I dont see many shots being taken much farther than that.

LOL...

Broadside shot only, otherwise you'll be carrying out nothing but bags of bloodshot burger.  A guy I knew in Michigan had a Remington 700 chambered in .300RUM that he was dying to use on whitetail...which are just a little bigger up there than the deer rabbits found here.  He had a spot where he could take a 700 yard shot down some fire roads.

The season was drawing to a close and he hadn't seen anything.  He ended up shooting a 110 lb spike buck at 10 yards.  That deer looked like a prairie dog that got hit with a 55 gr. VMAX.

I can believe that.  I've seen a small fork dropped by a .340 Wby at less than 50 yards.  Last mulie I shot with my .300 was a broadside shot at 250.  I was very pleased with the results.

I've used both of those bullets to great effect on hogs and whitetails.  Past about 300-325 they don't open up too much on lung shot deer.  I have never recovered a single one of them regardless of shot angle.

a while back I had given up on shooting a big mule buck and it was the last day of my hunt so I decided to shoot the next antlered deer that came my way. Happened to be a little bitty spike at about 20 yards.  Hit him at an angle with 150 gr 7 mag.  exit wound was square in the shoulder and there was almost nothing but bits and pieces of stew meat left of that shoulder.

I just found out I didnt even get put in for the draw. I found out the server was having problems when I was trying to put in and I didnt get put in. The lady at game G&F told me there is always leftover tags. Has anyone ever bought leftover tags, or should I just call it a wash since I ended up not being charged for anything.

Leftover tags will probably be south, way south.  Bring a AR-15 as backup to fend off the cartel guys...
