| I was shooting at PRG this afternoon about 4-4:30pm when I hear a bunch of full auto shooting over at the PD range. Is this common? Seemed odd to me. |
| Sorry, wasn't clear. These were HIS personally owned guns he would shoot for the recruits. Part of it was the criminal law (title 13) classes were very light on the subject of NFA weapons. Since he personally owned full auto weapons, he wanted recruits to be clear on the law. He would shoot them, and discuss legal/illegal ownership. |

Why's it seem odd? I guess I just couldn't figure any "official" PD reasons for it so I was curious what they might be. I didn't even think about guys out for some fun with their personally owned NFA items. Almost every moderate - major LEA in America that I know of has FA weapons of some type. Gotta qual / train with them sometime. |

Gotta qual / train with them sometime. Yeah. I didn't clarify this but they weren't shooting FA bursts (select fire). This was full 30+ round mag dumps which I can't see many/any LE circumstances where that makes sense. I'm always willing to be wrong and learn though. As Charles Heller, AZCDL founding officer and now also head of JPFO, says "I don't want to be right, I want to be correct. " |
