anyone using a variable orifice valve?
do you notice a huge difference in cooling at idle? |
| Have been in customer and my own for going on 8 years now. Make sure to label the change as it can really screw with other shops or owners as it closely mimics bad compressor valves (not knowing it has a VOV). It is relatively in between a expansion valve and standard orifice tube as far as performance. For the small sub-$10 investment it is well worth it. IMO the Four-Seasons branded one seems to last a bit longer (doesn't get stuck). Second best thing is a aux. e-fan in-front of the condenser that comes on via compressor clutch "signal". |

appreciate the response.
i posted in the cars-bikes forum about reworking my a/c in my 85 s15 truck with r152a, which is off the shelf as "ultra duster" keyboard compressed air. in testing this stuff, i flushed the system and replaced the oil with ester. i replaced the stock orifice tube with a stock 1.99 tube. i did also buy the 105 degree and below vov and new accumalator/drier, but did not put those in yet since i wanted to test the r152a and make sure everything was working properly. at 22 bucks for the vov, i was not sure if it was actually worth the price difference of 20 dollars. i'll report back if anyone is interested. |
