So my dad mentioned he wants to get back into pipe smoking. Awesome, I know what to do for Father's Day now!
I just need help locating a pipe tobacco store. There used to be one in Scottsdale that my mom and I would go to for supplies but that was a good 20 years ago at least. I was thinking of buying online but that seems overwhelming. I really would like to be able to talk to someone with knowledge and smell the blends myself and buy a selection for him along with a new pipe. I tried a Google search and turned up about 300 smoke shops. That is not obviously not what I am looking for. So I thought I would ask here to help find a local place. Thanks guys! |

Get him an E-Pipe (same as e-cig) and he can smoke inside without everyone complaining about the smell.

Ambassadors in Scottsdale. Swanky place, but they know their stuff when it comes to pipes. http://www.ambassadorfinecigars.com/
Tinder Box Mesa might still have some pipe stuff, I know they've cut back on it a lot. |

Mrs.. I have done tons of business with Scott Hiland at Hiland Cigars on Thomas just west of Scottsdale Rd.. Scott is super friendly and has a good selection of Pipes and Tabacco.. He also has a great cigar selection.. You can not go wrong with them..

The cigar store at Mesa Riverview (Big Sticks?) had jars of pipe tobacco when I visited them last (a year ago). Ford and Haig tobacconist in Old Town Scottsdale has a small selection of pipe tobacco. At Ford and Haig, they have a blend they call Red Sleeves which is lightly cured Virginia tobacco. For a beginner or somebody returning to this endeavor, that is a safe and mild selection. |

The shop is a bit inconspicuous along a stretch of small, older homes that have been converted into businesses and office suites, but they have a good selection of pipe tobacco. I only smoke stogies, but not every cigar shop sells pipe tobacco, and Hiland's is one that has a pretty good selection of tobaccos and accessories. http://www.hilandscigars.com/ |

So my trip yesterday was a bust. I went to Ford & Haig first. There were 6-7 guys having a meeting in the shop. They put up folding chairs and I could barely get in the door let alone look around. Plus the guy who was supposed to be there manning the store had stepped away. So I just left and went to Hiland since it was just down the street. By the time I got there it was time for me to head back to Mesa to pick up my daughter from her art lesson. She is 4 and it is impossible to do anything with her that requires a secret. I am thinking the internet might just be my best bet at this point. I hate traffic, I hate heat, and I hate scouring the earth for something.
So I guess I will head over to the Humidor section to see if I can get some suggestions on types that might be nice and just try my luck with the internet. |

So I decided to go the internet route and here is what I have it down to.
My dad really likes cherry so I was going to go with this http://pipesandcigars.com/mrebuchsa.html Now for just a regular tobacco I need help deciding. Which sampler would you go with out of these. http://pipesandcigars.com/cabltapa.html or http://pipesandcigars.com/standbyme.html Or if you have another suggestion for a sampler to go with that would be great. |
