If this story is accurate, I would not be the least bit surprised. He was a loon.
Damn shame he had to drag the civilian pro-border crowd through the mud... again.... with his notoriety and stupidity. These border militia types seem to have a pattern of shitty behavior.... or at the least, those "types" are drawn to groups playing Border Patrol. |

This was right near my office. I was offsite at a meeting one of the people i was meeting with has a pd scanner came in and asked if all was okay at our office. I'll admit there are a bunch of "groups" –– militia, citizen patrol, what ever you want to call them –– that are full of idiots and people with dangerous agendas but not everyone who heads down there is a knucklehead. You'd be surprised how many on this forum go down there on occasion. I doubt you'd classify any of them as loons, and you certainly wouldn't do so based on the gear they're wearing/carrying to protect themselves. You can fairly criticize any of these groups based on their behavior and actions but there are plenty of people who refuse to associate with idiots who still go down there and do good work without calling a bunch of attention to themselves because they don't act like ass hats. |

What do you mean GO down there???...I LIVE down here. Sure I may have an AR behind the seat of my truck...but I don't walk around in camo with face paint, binos slung around my neck, a chest rig full of mags, and an AR at the low ready. That's making a fantasy out of the border area and pretending it's something it isn't. Yes there's a problem down here... but we as civilians can affect very little change on the issue. Are you going to take on the liability of chasing down some illegals at gunpoint and holding them for the BP? I'm not. I'll make a phone call and maybe try to keep eyes on, but unless someone starts shooting at me that's it. Hell, it's the running joke with the Guard guys down on the border....."STOP!...or I'll yell stop again!!!". For those who go down to the border area to observe and report...yeah I completely understand that. It's responsible and reasonable.
