We have a growing up in Phoenix with Ladmo thread how about a Tucson thread.
Frank Kalil KTKT radio in the mid and late 50's.  That station was the station we listened to as we cruised Speedway.
Johnny's Drive in on Speedway, cherry 7 up and chocolate cokes.
The Midway drive in.
Craycroft was the edge of town.
The Spanish Trail was the way to the tiny town of Vail. (3 or so people)
Shooting in the desert was a 5 minute drive.  On the DIRT Pontatoc Road we got on a hill that had an old stone house and used it to shoot our .22's at Saguaro's (sorry).
We did drag races on river Road.
The end of Campbell was the make out spot.  No houses up there.
No U A hospital, instead Quonset huts for married Vets.
The Paramount and Fox had double features every weekend.
If a senior in H S bragged about 'nailing a senior girl the frosh boys would try to take sneak looks at her to see if she walked 'different'.

I remember all that except I listened to KHOS and KCUB. I also worked at Johnies at 22nd &Alvernon for a year while in Jr. High. Cruised Speedway in my old '51 Chevy P/U from Wilmot to Tucson Blvd. South near where the Wilmot prison is now was a make out spot. Hunted deer above Pontatoc. Remember when the Tucson Trap & Skeet Club was at 22nd & Pantano and the only real rifle range was in Tucson Mountain Park? Sandario Rd. was dirt from Avra Valley Rd. to Ajo Hwy.

The Trap & Skeet club was still operating when my family moved here - we got a house about a mile or less from the club.  I remember me and hte other neighbor kids going out there and collecting clay pigeons, and getting chased away by the staff.  It sat abandoned for several years before a developer came and plowed it all under - the bunkers for the clay machines were always filled with water once the place was abandoned.

I spent many a summer in that desert area playing with my friends.

Applebee's Electronics, just a couple doors down from the original Gordo's Restaurant at Broadway & Rosemont. They beat hell out of anything Radio Shack carried. They made the best donuts there. Hoot Gibson at Motorsports on Speedway. The original Randolph Park zoo, a chain-link enclosure with a peacock and a few other birds next to a walled prairie dog town. the original kite flying hill there was at lest three times taller too.
