I enjoyed that.
\My first dog as an adult.... I don't have a pic on this lap top but I have a 10.5 pound Dachshund, red shorthair who had a death sentance. A police officer scooped him up off the side of the road thinking he was dead. He was so skinny he looked dead. He was far worse than anything you've seen on TV about abused animals. The LEO took him to the local small town vet who for 2 months & 3 weeks nursed him back to health. But they keep strays for only 3 months, if noone claims or wants him he gets whacked. A friend 'Katie' took her cat to that vet for annual shots when she seen a picture of a tiny weiner dog on the wall up for adoption. He still looked very bad. At 6 pounds his ribs and spine showing badly, no fur and sunken eyes. Worse, he was mean, growled all the time. Nobody wanted him and he was not cute. She called me from the vet to see if I wanted a dog. I said "NO". Then she said he had only 8 days left. I took him sight unseen. His name is 'VonBarkyBucBuck'. I feed him holistic dog food, brush his teeth before bed and for the past 3.5 years he's been a great trouble free dog. Tip: Dogs feel pain like you do. Take care of their teeth. Especially smaller dogs get bad tooth decay and it hurts a dog just as bad as it hurts people. Please Don't let your dog/pet suffer. VonBarky |

This is my Border Collie shortly before we had to have her put down. Her name was Brandy and yes, thats how I got the goofy screen name of brandyspaw––from being Brandys "Dad". . While she did live a long, full life, when you have to put your dog down due to old age, thats the part of pet ownership I really hate. It really keeps me from having another dog although I really miss not having a mutt around. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c160/brandyspaw/DSCN0129.jpg Amen brother! I have had several great dogs before the 3 I have now. Us dog people that have had to put down one of our pups we know what its like to bury a child. its not a good feeling. getting a knot in my throat typing this. |

Still not over it. He was my 140 pound lap dog, a Rottie named Zeus. If I can, I will scan a pic of him. Talk about a connection. I know your knot all too well. |

… not sure if God will punish or reward me come judgment day for this: When I’m done with a plastic jar of peanut butter, I give it to my doggies. They take turns licking it for hours - just as far as their little faces and tongues can reach inside. And there is a physical limit - a perfectly clean, circumferential ring extends about 4 inches in from rim. That last bit, they CANNOT reach without man nor tool. Do you think my Maker frowns on this kind of behavior? Does he see it as mean and devious torture, or fun for me and doggies? |
