The Defensive Carbine course scheduled for October 30th was originally a private event, but has now been changed to an open-enrollment course at the request of the students. This is a customized course - in addition to the normal course of fire, you'll also learn about the IFAK (individual First-Aid Kit) and use certain elements of it during certain drills. We will also be covering an intro to low-light shooting.

Come up and enjoy the cooler temps of Northern AZ while pushing yourself and your carbine to the limit.

Glen will you be doing another open enrollment carbine class sometime in the next couple months? Really want to attend but funds won't permit this month.

Also your topic says for Oct. 30th but you mention the 22nd in the post.

Not sure if we'll do another one this year or not. And thanks for the catch on the date mistake - this course is the 30th.

IM inbound.

In on this.. When making the deposit through paypal, should we make a note on there that it's for the course on the 30th?

You can, or you can email me and let me know. Either way works.

I wish I could make this :(

For future reference, does the type of carbine matter? i.e. is AR, AK, etc. required?

I really want to do some of these courses eventually, would you guys recommend starting with pistol and working my way up or what?

Pistol and rifle are two different animals. I don't really think you need to "start" with either one, although the rifle course does cover transitions to secondary so you'll need to know how to draw from a holster. My suggestion, take both courses, and the med course, and the advanced carbine. Take them all, you can never stop learning!

Nope, doesn't matter.  AR is preferred according to the website but any reliable carbine would work.

Whatever carbine you plan on using for your situation is the carbine you should run. Mostly we run ARs through the course, and we get a good number of AKs, as well. Myself and my staff are very proficient and experienced with both, as well as other types of carbines. Though this course is geared towards the AR platform, we've had students run the Mini-14, Sig 556, SCAR, SKS, M1, even lever action and hunting style magazine-fed rifles.
