When will it happen?
Texas is over run with them, don't know about NM? When will they make it out here? I want to bag me some hogs man! They just look tasty! |
| Fuck that noise. They take over. If you want some hogs go to Texas and get them. Don't hope for an environmental disaster simply for a little sport. We have a big enough problem with coyote overpopulation, we don't need another species here taking over. If I want a local pig I'll get a javelina. |

You don't want pigs here. As it's been said, they are super destructive and reproduce at alarming rates. We have a few small pockets of them around the state - they are big, ugly, soak up a number of .223 rounds and taste very good. That's all I'll say. You had to add the taste yummy part didn't you! I know they are bad news but I figure they will invade at some point with so many states having problems with them. |
| Just remember this - they are not a managed game species in AZ so if you see one you can kill it anyway you want. Full-auto with mil-surplus FMJ and a suppressor at night and then detonate its body with some homemade tannerite and no one will care as long as you are acting in accordance with local shooting laws. |

Yeah that's the jist I got from AZGF when I emailed them last year. Then they through out the escaped livestock deal as well. I need to find better places to coyote hunt down here also. I'm 0-2 so far but I think part of it is where I've gone. I found fresh tracks in a wash last time but that's it... Though I did kick up a mule deer in the same area! |

Rumor is they are in the Pinal Air Park area.
Here is an article a year or so ago http://azstarnet.com/news/science/environment/article_e216707d-5bdf-5779-a79f-4a4f7f74a785.html |

AZ is an open range state, you are obligated to fence rogue livestock out, not the other way around. Proceed with caution. Them redneck boys down in Dugas may not have relinquished all claims. |

From a helicopter? Although I will say, feral pigs are more trouble than they're worth. Nasty, nasty, mean, destructive creatures. Texas can keep them. Same for the flying Asian Carp in all the rivers back home.

From a moving vehicle? That's how we hunt them in Goliad, TX. We refer to it as "Yahoo-ing." It's mixture of demolition derby & rodeo with guns. The mudder truck is equipped with IR headlights. No spotlights. http://www.wildriverranchtexas.com/images/gallery9.png http://www.wildriverranchtexas.com/images/gallery6.png http://www.wildriverranchtexas.com/images/gallery19.png They are much more sporting than Javelina. I make it a point not to take a shot at a Jav unless I'm within 10 yards. I shot these right off the muzzle of my .22 WMR. Could have used a bang stick. I got pretty good at sneaking up on them in a sendero and snatching up the little ones by a hind leg. Eventually I'd like to try it with an Arkansas toothpick. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o150/PAS48329/Nueces.jpg Odd looking pig in that truck on the left.... |

They are to be engaged at every opportunity. |

Pigs are one of most destructive creatures ever. And not just to crops. I've hunted boar in N. CA, and you can find many areas where entire hillsides have been eroded away by rain after the pigs have rooted up the ground cover. Nothing is safe from marauding pigs. |

Quoted: Quoted: Coyotes are like Mahdi Army. They are to be engaged at every opportunity. Have you met rizzo (Glen) yet? Negative. I haven't hunted much in the last five years except for a couple of bird hunts and an elk. A long time ago I lived in a rented farmhouse in northern Indiana. We were over run with coyotes. My room mate and I killed them with rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers, black powder rifles, cap'n ball revolvers, bows, and crossbows. I personally killed over 140 in one winter. It would take an awful lot to get me motivated enough to go after them these days. |
| I don't want those little buggers anywhere in AZ. Friends that go to TX talk about how they destroy everything in their path. Fun to shoot but the pro's/fun are out weighed by the negative affects they put on the environment. But if I do see one, imma kill it quickly and any others I see. If I had C4 or Claymores, i am sure hog hunting would be more exciting though, I would take those to TX. |

Any one up for a hunt? Im in, ill even bring the beltfed so we can mow em down with ease. Sounds like a trip to scout out the San Pedro area is in order soon. I'm so down to kill shit, it's disturbing. I would love to bag a hog... and not the Ranger term for hogging but a real hog, that I can eat and not feel guilty about in the morning...
But I don't get much time to go out as me and my wife only get one day off a week together and I work a bunch of weekends. |
