I heard that currently, there is an overpopulation of coyotes in AZ, and I was thinking that would be a great time to break in my new AR Only thing is, I haven't hunted since I was a kid and don't know the rules, or where to do it. How do I dispose of the bodies? Give em to game and fish? bury them in a ditch? I bet coyote tastes like puke covered worm turds. Also, anyone know a good, undeveloped public spot to hunt? Who hunts coyote? Always down to meet up with another arfcommer too |

Rizzo is your man, he does it all the time and if I'm not mistaken offers clinics as well.
I wish I could help but I'm in a much different part of the state and there's plenty here but within city limits. I need a damned suppressor. I'm gonna try calling them in on the outskirts of town. |

Quoted: Saw one today while dove hunting. Didn't bring any slugs, so no coyote today... where at. did you head out to the spot I mentioned? I have ben trying to call in a couple yotes I know live out there for a few weeks. Figured time is up now that the place will be crawling with bird hunters for a month or so. |

Quoted: No, we went out west again. I was tempted, but we had a time crunch, and we knew the west side spot already. The area is near Ray Road and Jackrabbit trail...Quoted: Saw one today while dove hunting. Didn't bring any slugs, so no coyote today... where at. did you head out to the spot I mentioned? Quoted: oh okay. lol I might have ben a bit undeservedly angry at you if you saw the pain in the ass yotes I have been trying to call in and didn't kill them. I can only seem to get them in to about 100 yards and they never break cover even close to long enough to get a shot. Im going to have to do rizzos clinic next time . These yotes are smarter than most i have encountered and I need an edge to finish them.Quoted: No, we went out west again. Who hunts coyote? Always down to meet up with another arfcommer too Coyotes are massively overpopulated. Kill them every chance you get, however you can (legally). Declining antelope and deer numbers in AZ and other states are thanks to the ever-climbing numbers of coyotes. Coyote pelts are worth much money, and most won't be worth anything. Kick them under a bush and pat yourself on the back for helping effective game management. AZGFD does not want the bodies. I ate coyote once and it wasn't so good, wasn't as bad as I thought, though. There's a video of it floating around in the Small Game and Trapping forum. FWIW I've also eaten bobcat (which is super tasty) and fox (edible but not great, and not recommended). AZ is 85% public land, so get out and do a little scouting. If there is cover, sign, and a prey base, there will be predators there. I kill them all over the southwest, and an important thing to remember is that just because they are everywhere doesn't mean they are everywhere all the time. A certain location may produce better in the evening, morning, or mid-day. Predator hunters are a growing number out there, but real predator killers are something different. There aren't as many of those, but if you put in the time and effort, you will get squared away. Simply buying an e-caller and sticking it in the middle of a field while it screams dying rabbit is not enough. It's not chess, but it is checkers and not as easy as the videos make it look with creative editing. If you're interested in learning, I'll teach you. I hold a Coyote Clinic once a year, sometimes more often. This year's first one will be coming up on November 5th. As it was mentioned, I wrote a book awhile back called "Ready for Anything" - you can find it on AllPredatorCalls.com or onAmazon.com. I also do some writing for a few magazines, most often with "Predator Xtreme," and I have a blog if you enjoy reading such things. I try to take out as many new hunters as possible. The more people I can get involved, the better chance the declining hunting and fishing numbers have of recovering. Damn you, XBox! Here's my deal: you pay for my fuel (if needed), you drive during the hunt, and you bring me a tasty lunch. In turn, I will teach you as much as I can. I can't guarantee we will kill animals (it's called hunting, not getting) but I can guarantee that you will learn something and have a good time. |

I've got a better deal for all you potential coyote hunters: you must do all of the above, plus bring me a six pack of Four Peaks Kiltlifter or other similiar quality beer. In return, I will help you educate every coyote west of the 303/north of the Carefree Highway. You will learn despair, and will probably take up stamp collecting or scrapbooking after the luck we have. |
