Hard to pick. On one hand you have the ubiquitous SAA, the gun of the wild west. While there were many revolvers, I'd say none were as popular as this six shooter, not even the Schofields. I don't know much about western gun history to make any sort of authoritive statement but coming from a western fan... that's what I think of immediately. Now that can stretch from Missouri, Kansas, Texas... all the way to Arizona but I think most will associate Arizona with it maybe due to the infamous Tombstone, Yuma, and Tuscon among other cities.
BUT I had to go with the AR-15. I think a more modern gun is deserving and at least in my neck if I go out in the desert I'm almost guaranteed to see everyone shooting an AR-15 amongst whatever other guns they have. Lots of deer rifles back home but out here it seems like the folk are picking and sticking with the AR-15 and dare I say it's the modern frontier gun. Let's face it, with the invasion from the southern border, it may just be the weapon that will win the west again. 
So thusly I voted AR-15 but it was a hard pick. My AR-15 is propped against the wall next to me so I'm a little biased too. But I just got done watching True Grit (JW) so that has to even that out a little.
