Looking to take the lovely lady out to dinner for her birthday but not sure of any nice places to go...
Roughly $50 or under a dish would be nice, seafood is a plus, cool view/experience is also good. Been looking at http://www.farrellis.com/index.html since it seems like a cool idea and has a decent menu but figured there has to be better ideas in the valley... figured something nicer than red lobster is in order

For fancy seafood I'd go to Roy's. For steak I'd go to Morton's. Morton's also offers seafood as well, it's just not their specialty but they still serve high end food. Expect to easily drop $100 for two people at either location, but closer to $200 after tip if anybody is drinking... However, service and food at either of these should be unmatched and should earn you tons of brownie points with the lady. If you go to Morton's remember to order the souffle when you order your main course as it takes them about 45-60 minutes to make it for you http://www.roysrestaurant.com/ http://www.mortons.com/ |

http://www.fogodechao.com/ at Scottsdale Rd. & Lincoln (halfway between McDonald and Indian Bend) I believe it's roughly $45-48 a plate and it's all you can eat. Amazing steak and other meats, salad bar is very unique but delicious. I went there once and have been dying to go back! Wish your wife Happy Birthday from us! ![]() |

Elements restaurant at Sanctuary. A little on the upscale yuppie side if you are into that, I had to tell the server to stop touching my eating utensils, because he kept moving the fork back to the left side of the plate. I'm RIGHT handed you fool ...I don't care what was proper! Elements |

Again, great food, unique and eclectic salad bar. http://www.brazilianbullsteakhouse.com/BrazilianBull/Home.html My wife however will always lobby for The Melting Pot. |

Outstanding Persian food for a great price.
http://www.parspersiancuisine.com/index.html You can easily eat here for less than $50 if you don't order booze. Bring a cooler for the leftovers. 2 dinners feed 3 to 4 people easy. |

Durants......It's the only place in the valley that I truly enjoy eating at. I've been going there for 30+ years now http://durantsaz.com/index.html |

Different Pointe of View. 7th st south of T-bird. Views are great. Get a reservation about 30 minutes before sunset. It's a little pricey, ~$35 a plate, not including appetizers or sides. You're probably not going to get out of there for under $150, after tip.
It's been a while since I've been there, so I can't promise anything about food/service quality. The Yelp reviews over the past 6 months are good, and I live by Yelp, so I'd go. http://www.tapatiocliffshilton.com/dining/different-pointe-of-view/ ETA: Currently rated #4 for mountaintop restaurants in the US and Canada by Sunset Magazine. Beats out places like Mammoth and Whistler. That's saying something for a restaurant in Phoenix.... |

I will most likely be proposing to her that day so it better be a good dinner ![]() In that case either "The Melting Pot" or Different Pointe of View. Nothing says romance like either a 4-course fondue or a sunset view. If you do the melting pot, request a private table. You get curtains and a nice private meal. |

http://www.saltcellarrestaurant.com/ second best seafood place i have found other than that one i cant remember. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about this place. I have yet to go, but it is on the list. Salt Cellar is good food. But it's not exactly a romantic environment, although my parents actually got engaged there in ~1973. |

This is actually where we ended up because some of my family suggested it. I didnt like that the people at either table next to us were close enough to bump shoulders and the food ended up not being all that good
The engagement part went well as she said yes lol... Thanks again for all the ideas. I will be saving them for another day |

My wife however will always lobby for The Melting Pot. I will never understand that lame-ass place. Several women I've been with seem to enjoy me forking out over $100 for us to cook our own freaking food. Total ripoff Nothing like walking out of a $150 dinner and still being hungry. They'll never get another dollar from me. |

For some reason though chicks really dig The Melting Pot. Seriously. Tell me I'm wrong. Best way to do one of the Fondue places is to order the cheese course for 3, then split one entree course. Then desert for two. Costs a little bit less, and you get more food. |
