Well was at work yesterday and fell off of a machine. 13 foot fall onto a 4 foot stepladder then the ground. Fractured wrist and grapefruit sized lump on left thigh where it hit the ladder.
My first broken bone.

Rizzo, 4-6 weeks is what I am hearing. Still have to see orthopedic Dr on Monday and see what he says.
Z06, There ain't nothing tactical about a fall like that. The guns are fine, I can still shoot left handed.
FreeBear, I know I cheated the Reaper. You will have to fight the wife for guns and ammo though. You better bring backup. ragedracer, I have a drum of stuff for you in my work truck. How's your mom doing? Yup I will be at home resting. Quoted:
the trick is to land on your $600 phone My Droid fell out on the way down, It still works fine though.

isnt the company required to provide you with fall protection over 4ft for general industry? I have fall protection, but what do I tie off to? The customer I was working for wanted me to tie off to my truck crane, an OSHA violation. Quoted:

Wrist injuries are he worst. I fractured my left wrist 6 years ago and it still hurts a lot sometimes, and I'm limited to what I can do with it. I broke my wrist 10 years ago, and to this day I cannot do push ups with an open hand. My left wrist just plain does not go that far back. I have to do push ups with my hands in a fist. My left wrist goes back just barely past strait. ETA: Oh, and I hope you heal up alright. Start looking for an alternate career path. Wrenching is hard on the body, especially working on big stuff like that. |

Problem is, none of my skills transfer to another field. I'm sure as hell not gonna go and be a service writer. |

I tripped and rolled all the way down the stairs on the lower level of Sun Devil Stadium back in 6th grade. That's a pretty steep set of stairs, all concrete. I rolled almost all the way down, and got up with no injury. Thank God video games taught me all I needed to know about tactical parachute rolls... ![]() |

I got out a couple years ago, started selling tools, now I'm looking at going back The tool business is much easier on the body, but stressful as all hell. I'm going to end up having a heart attack if I stay with it.

Years ago, my dad fell off a 6' ladder and landed on it. He broke a rib which punctured a lung and was in the ICU for 4 days. So count your lucky stars it was only a broken wrist.
I'm 'lucky', the only fractures I have had were in my face. I had a fractured cheek bone when I got in a fight in high school. I also chipped my jaw when I was a kid on my bike and still have it floating around under my skin. I don't even think I went to the ER for the chipped jaw. I am not tough or anything, I just didn't know any better when I was a kid. I walked it off and played lightly for a couple of weeks afterward. |
