| I was thinking about taking a little trip there later this year. I've always been interested in the history of the area but will only have 3 or 4 days to visit. Is it worth going to? Probably just be me, maybe +1 if schedules align and no kids. I'm looking up events and such now. Thanks. |

GO!
My wife and I have been twice, total 4 days, and will be going back more than once. You should be able to see all you want in 3-4 days. My observations and personal opinion: We stayed at the Larian Motel. Seemed a little pricey, but clean. We didn't check others because of the dog and the location. We will stay there again. The manager supplies you with all the brochures you need. 10% discount off food at some? restaurants with your room key. They allow small dogs no charge, one block from about the middle of the main street, 1/2 block to a gunstore, everything within walking distance except Boothill. Make reservations early, it is a small motel and fills up. JUST enough parking for 1 vehicle per unit. Everywhere we ate had excellent food and service. We went on the Goodenough mine tour. I wouldn't again. I have been on several throughout the country, and this was lame. The gunfight/robbery scenario at Helldorado was hilarious. Guys, DON'T sit near the front with shorts on, you'll be sorry. Just sayin. We have not been to 6 gun city, next time along with the Ghosts and Legends and Ghosthunters tours. The shooting galleries look like a waste of time, except for the kids. Downloaded blackpowder blanks at about 20 feet. If the Courthouse is still open go there for a couple of hours. Lots of interesting history. The wagon/stagecoach/etc rides look like a bust. You can observe before trying them. Looks like a loop of the main street, about 6 blocks. Might be a hit with the kiddies. See the Gunfight near the OK Corral. <<<<That will be explained when you get there. Doc Holiday was GOOD. He ran us out of the whore house showcase in time for the show and gave the crowd an impromtu (I think) poetry reading prior. Also take in the Historama there. Museums all over. Take a couple of hours to tour Boothill, at the edge of town, and read the markers. Interesting. One guy died of typhoid? and was dragged there with a rope. The guy that got the preservation/restoration of Boothill started is buried there also. We did not do the Trolley Tour, that might be on the next agenda. Looks like it might cover more of the whole town of Tombstone, not just Old Tombstone. For a remembrance, go to the Tombstone Epitaph and get the paper from the day of the OK Corral Shootout and tour the building. Best thing is to make a time itinerary so you can be one time for the different shows. Stay upwind of the street shootouts. That black powder they use is acrid and dirty.
Have fun and enjoy AZ. |

Quoted: If you're going that far south and have the time... Check out the Copper Queen Mine in Bisbee. http://www.queenminetour.com/ This! My fourth grade class paid to take everyone who wanted to go to the mine tour and to Tombstone, best class trip EVER to learn about the state I think.Ah, good times, haven't been back since but plan to when my nephew is old enough to enjoy it.
