Hello guys,
I'm moving to AZ, Glendale to be exact.. School related, attending Midwestern University. I wanted to know how the CCW law is like in AZ? I'm coming from Florida where we are practically allowed to own as many guns as one please (between Handguns and Rifles).. I do have a CCW permit from FL and AZ honors it, but my concern is my other guns and ammo I currently own... Any input will be greatly appreciated... Thanks, Erick.. |

FYI your out of state permit is not valid in AZ if you are a resident, but as mentioned permitless CCW takes effect soon.
I would still get an AZ ccw permit if you'll be here a while as it does still have some benefits. Class 3 just requires CLEO signoff, nothing extra. Sheriff joe will sign forms. |

I will collect your beer tax, ammo tax, and general cash tax once you arrive in state. PS Congrats on MIdwestern. Do you have a relative that got you in? Or are you just damn smart? Or damn rich? Rizzo has the ammo tax concession and I get the beer tax. |

For all practical purposes Arizona has no "gun laws" pertaining to ownership beyond the federal laws. Cash and carry to purchase, and carry is just that open or concealed no licence (soon) and if you own a full auto Mac you can carry that too. |

Hey man, how dare you try to move in on my well-established tax system. What are you - the mafia? Or some damn illegal alien? Hahaha - don't taze me bro. |

Welcome. I live about 2 miles from Midwestern. You will find Ben Avery range on our side of town. At 1650 Acres, It is the largest public range in the USA.
Bring al the guns you want. If they are legal in Florida, they are legal here. http://www.azgfd.gov/outdoor_recreation/ben_avery.shtml |

No, I'm just an opportunist. I knew you wouldn't be on here for a while, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Seriously though. How do you put up that originally posted stuff? Hit "quote" under a user's post instead of "reply" Ha. Thats too obvious. I feel retarded.

| Thanks guys for the info, but what about the areas to stay away from in Glendale or Phoenix?? Wife may work at one of the hospitals in Phoenix while I go to school full time.. Looking online for areas to rent a house or large apartments, but honestly I have no idea what areas in those two cities one should not move in?? |

My opinions only.
Well, I live in Surprise. It's nice, cheap houses, and normal people, except all the old farts across the way at sun city, sun city west, and sun city grand. It would be a long commute for you if you lived in surprise, goodyear, avondale, tolleson etc. I would avoid phoenix in general, except north phoenix. I would actually look into apts right near 51 and the 101. If your set on houses, there's a bunch there, but on one income good luck. There is Arrowhead hospital a couple miles away, if she could get in there, that would be convenient. Also Mayo Clinic is a few (23)miles down the 101. A few urgent cares too. Glendale varies by street on how good or bad, same with peoria. You may look into renting a house while your here. God knows everybody is hurting, and there are a large amount of rentals. If you do this: BE WARNED! It is very common for people to collect your rent, and skip with it, leaving you high and dry. Ask to see their mortgage papers, and see if you can send the checks to the mortgage company yourself. That way you know they're legit. Or get a leasing company. It's only 25-50 a month but well worth it. Scottsdale is nice= people are stuck up, and it's expensive. Paradise Valley is nice= see above El Mirage= Ghetto even though its in close proximity to my lovely town Tempe= nice, more of an older neighbor hood. but it has a good feel. long drive for you Guadalupe=Ghetto North of the 101 could be nice for you. Up by Happy valley road between 67-35th ave. Are you going to take out living expenses in your student loans? If not I going to stick with right across the street. It's decent apts, there's a home depot right across the street if you need a part time job, they'll hire you for weekends. Close to the 101, you won't need 2 cars cause you can walk to school. Are you phtch? |

| Good luck with your move. I too am looking to move my family to AZ. I am looking for a better climate for myself and my youngest daughter who have severe allergies to molds and dust mites ( I already called and talked to Allergy specialists in the Prescott Area). I am optimistic on finding work in retail until I finish my computer degree, then hope to find better employment in the IT industry and hopefully make some money on the side doing PC repair ( I am great at getting viruses pulled out of computers). Now I just have to look more into what kind of bird hunting is available, my pointing do will need something to do 2 months a year. |

I'm live in FL and it's hot, but the humidity makes it worse.. I hope you find a job as soon as you get there.. The wife and I will take traveling nursing positions in AZ and work for 13 weeks with a local hospital until be are situated.. Good thing, is that the Agency will cover our expenses while station there for those 13 weeks.. It gives us plenty of time to set up, and prepare for me to go to school full time, and her to obtain a job in her field... |

Hi Guys!!
I will be arriving to Arizona next month for my interview at Midwestern University. I will be staying at the Comfort Inn located at Unions Hills Drive.. Do you guys know how far is that from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport? Since I'm not bringing my CCW, and I'm arriving at night, wanted to avoid getting lost. Would hate to end up in a bad area without a CCW
Thanks!!!

20.9 miles
I'm guessing that's where your hotel is. I would recommend eating at In-N-Out. It's located in the NW corner of the Costco/Sportsmans Warehouse parking lot just N of your hotel. |

| Congrats on getting into Midwestern. My wife to be (in 19 days) was waited listed for their PA program and I will be starting PT school at AT Still over in Mesa. If you haven't found a place yet, the Mark-Taylor appartments are really nice. Rates vary but not too bad and a ton of ammenities (hard to find well kept places who let you have a large dog too). We are over off Market St. in Gilbert and some friends of ours are moving out from Jersey to the Scottsdale area. |

| I live near the 101 and the 51 and i pay 400 dollars a month for my 1 bedroom apartment and i love it here. I did a little negotiating when first moving in and got my rent lowered, and there was some program called hometown heros where if you were a soldier, policeman, paramedic, fireman, etc you got a discount too and i qualed for that. |

Really, .. That is a pretty good price... I would love to move near school (Midwestern University) but since the wife may be getting a job at the Mayo Clinic, which I believe is near Phoenix or so; we need find a place in between my school and her job... Plus I need a bigger place since I'm bringing my gun safe and all my toys with it... |
