Parasites are trying to get the law that would sunset Payday Loan operations, repealed.

It looks like Grant Woods has been hired to help push this through

Contact these turds, and let them know what you think

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX –– Rep. Andy Tobin (R-LD1-Paulden) has introduced a bill that would repeal the July 1, 2010 payday loan sunset date and perpetuate 400% interest rate payday loans indefinitely. His bill, HB 2161, was introduced in the middle of the night, and currently lacks any co-sponsors. Tobin is a key part of House Republican leadership as the majority whip.

"Rep. Tobin's bill doesn't respect the will of Arizona voters," said Rep. Daniel Patterson. "Arizonans said loud and clear they don't want predatory payday loans crippling Arizona's families and making tough times even tougher. As elected leaders, we should respect voters' decisions, and in this case they wisely want the sun to set on payday loans."

Yes, Fuck that noise.  Legalized loan sharks.

Never again will I pay $1200 for a $350 payday loan

Anyone ever thinking about one in desperate times should really consider a pawn shop.

What I want to know, Rifleguy, is are they legal? Could you give me some advice on that? I'd really like to see some case law here.

Payday loans should be banned period. People got along fine without them and will be fine with them gone. It will teach people a little patience and some money management skills.

I have a roommate that I warned about them but he dint listen!!

His $100 loan cost him about $250-300.

Where they make the money is in the "extension" fee.  You can pay anywhere from $15-40 to extend your loan by another week. Idiots do that 3 or 4 times and........

I used a pawnshop one time when I was 18, pawned the old 590, first gun I ever bought.  You bet your ass I got that back!!

I thought pawnshops were expensive.  Then I figured out these "Cash Loan Stores" were charging 3X what a pawnshop charged for the same time period of the loan.  That is just crazy.
No wonder people go in the hole with these loan places.

The people voted.  Let these places sunset and be gone.

YES payday loans and title loans are expensive . in fact they are insanely expensive . Most don't care ,they want what they want now . You can try to protect the truly stupid with laws . No mater what ,there will always be the truly stupid who will get fleeced . If banks, credit unions, friends and relatives won't lend these folks money ,there must be a reason . Should these same people be banned from casinos ,or Horse tracks ? They know the cost B4 they get the loan . It seams to me we have become a Nanny state . If no one does biz with the loan sharks they will go out of biz ,simple as that . I do not support loan sharks . tHE MORE LAWS WE HAVE THE MORE LAWERS WE NEED . And we all see where that has led us .

I don't want one of these 'payday loan' places in my neighborhood.
They attract a real scumbag type of customer.

Well since the citizens of the state of Arizona voted against extending the law last general election by a wide margin, they should be history.  This whole move by scumbag Grant Woods (and if you don't believe me that he is a scumbag just watch the Horizon show from this past Wednesday http://www.azpbs.org/horizon/detail.php?id=1275#Payday Loan Reform ) and make up your own mind.

I agree that nobody SHOULD use payday loans but I also believe in small government and little regulation. Let the market sort it out. I don't work in the payday loan industry and don't use their services but there are people that do both of those things. I would like to stay out of their business.

Stop trying to protect people from themselves. We have the "chosen one" BO to do that doe us.

I'm not so against payday loans as I'm against their use as the banks for illegal aliens.  If it was a legitimate way of generating revenue, it seems to me the larger banks would have entered the market but not one ever did.
