Hi,
I've been to AZ (phoenix) once on business. Me and wife are thinking of staying a few months during the winter in the next year or two. Kinda depends on many things but I have know idea where to start. I like golf, guns and sun. There is pleanty of real estate info available but what city or area of your state do the snowbird types hang out? btw, we are on a fixed income and not rich.......thanks. |

Thanks for the info guys. Is Tuscon or Yuma worth a look? Just thinking maybe smaller cities less expensive? And you would be wrong. Tucson has always been more expensive than Phoenix Metro by 10-15% (at least in terms of housing). Yuma... Yuma is Hell with Palm Trees. Florence maybe? |

Casa Grande has some real good opportunities in real estate but so has the Mesa, Phx or the west valleys
There is a range in Casa Grande kind of small and unsupervised but convenient and easy to find. No matter where you choose in AZ is far better than New York or Chicago or most of those cities where the polititions are liberal gun haters. Just remember it does get hot here in the summer 110 to 115 degrees and the a/c bills can get high. |

Florence may be a bit cheaper, but not by much if at all. The housing market is in the tank all over Arizona. Florence is a nice area, my Mother lives just outside of Florence, but you are pretty far away from the lakes if you like to fish. |

Just remember, you want a Ranch Style house.
No one builds basements here because digging in the the crap we call soil is too bloody expensive. So a basement is almost always out. The only folks who buy two story houses are suckers from NY who think "wow look at the square footage I can get", and don't realize that a 2-story house comes with a $500 a/c bill in the summer. |

Im in Safford.. 18 years now... Nice Quiet area.. I would prefer here over the rat race of the big city... You have a project your working on and need to go back AND back to the store, its only 5 minutes..... traffic....?? well you may have to wait 30 seconds at a light..... Crime?? NOT much compared to other areas... Really dont have to lock doors.. Heck I have things out that never get messed with... My neighbor had a generator at the end of his carport like a week... I WOULDNT do it, but it stayed.... There is some crime and Drugs, just like anywhere, but not as much.. Good place for kids... Alot of outdoor things... Mnt Graham , 20 minutes and your in snow, Or in the cool in the summer...Not as hot here...Nights ALOT cooler in summer....Now like the mother in law, She likes to SHOP, plays, opera and such....Not really here......
Now Globe, Never lived there, But I think it would be cool... kind of a HUB... Go this way to tucson this way to phoenix, this way to the lakes this way to the white mnts...... But other than say the white mnts, flagstaff, payson, I would have to say safford area.......... In tucson I would go on the outskirts like Vail area.... Or even Benson.. Sierra Vista is nice, just close to the border..... |
| Yuma has a free county maintained shooting area. Pistol/ Rifle/ Shotgun/ Skeet-Trap/ Black powder/ 1000 yd range. Yuma has a good share of snow birds here, it is a lot windier than Phx/ Mesa though. Not sure about prices here. My grandparents live in a nice park model in a Mesa gated 55+ community for $1700 a month which includes all power, water, sewer, garbage, pool, tennis courts, etc. |
