From what dealers have told me I have to purchase the suppressor then they help me fill out the paperwork and send it off to the local Sheriff which takes roughly 6 months. My question is what could disqualify you? All I have on my record is a DUI a couple years ago and I believe either disturbing the peace or domestic disturbance which was dismissed, and my fair share of traffic violations lol.
Anyone in Pima county gotten their suppressor? If so, how long did it take you? |

Dupnik signs off, but takes his time. Expect your paperwork to sit in SO for 3-4 weeks.
Haven't heard of him turning them down for reasons like that though. Who knows. You're looking at around 3 months from the time you send it in to batfe. With them, if you can own a gun, you can own a suppressor. |

It may be shorter if the dealer has your product in stock, but that is unusual for Pima County dealers. Just do it and forget it. It will be like a surprise Christmas present. The longer you wait to get started, the longer it will take to get finished!!! |
Dont live in az right now but lived there most of my life. remember you dont have to have the sheriff sign off. You can have your local PD captain sign off also. CLEO doesnt just mean your county sheriff. I've lived in Ky for 5 yrs now and our county sheriff doesnt sign off on silencers but does on MG's go figure. I had my local PD Captain sign off with no probs..............

I'd definitely go the trust route. I've heard that the Sheriff's Office here in Maricopa County will deny you for DUI. whats the trust route? Set up a Revocable Living Trust and make the trust the owner of the NFA item. I'm sure there's a FAQ in the Class III forums here. Arizona Tactical Firearms set mine up when I bought my first silencer. But you can do it yourself or have a lawyer do one for you. |

TPD will only sign off if you are seriously connected, and I have not heard of this. Since the Governor gives power to sworn officers of the state, Sheriff is CLEO and the police are actually given their powers from him. The Police Chief is NOT CLEO for Pima County. |

im just not understanding what the trust has to do with anything The trust buys the supressor, not you. Trusts don't have fingerprints or criminal backgrounds to be checked, therefore saving those two steps and the need for the Sheriff's signature. Head over to the Class 3 forum here and check the stickies. |

There's still a wait. You have to do the form 4 stuff for the ATF and wait for the approval.
You skip having to get the fingerprinting (which the FBI runs and takes a couple of weeks) and the local CLEO signoff (which can take a few days). So on average, you'll probably save 3 weeks wait at least. My supressor took 31 days from the time I paid the dealer and mailed the forms to the ATF until the day I got the call to come pick it up. |

do you have a link to the discussion youre talking about? im just not finding it These two should cover ya. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=17&t=266046 http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=17&t=199942 Note that if they talk about submitting a form1, that's for SBRs. You'll be doing form4 on a supressor since someone else manufactured it. |
go figure. I had my local PD Captain sign off with no probs..............
