Guys just a quick note. Thank you for the emails and responses . Wife is doing great and baby is too. Its amazing how fast rage can over take thought process and get your mouth running. I apologize if I offended anyone and feel lower then pound scum for the statement I made. Theres bad apples in every group and the way i expressed my thoughts was wrong.

If my account was unlocked by mistake and this is my last post. Thanks again and everyone be safe.

Heres a short and sweet to what happened.

Wife is pregnant with my boy and first child. She was in a small compact car that I hate ,sitting at a light . A suv plowed into her from behind. She was pushed ahead right about 12 feet. She managed to not run the guy over on a street bike in front of her. She got out and spoke to the driver who hit her. He said he would pull into a parking lot behind her . When she pulled in he kept going straight and bolted.

Hopefully not your last post. Intelligent posters are not common so the board would be less without you.

The only thing that offended me was that the whole thing got locked before I had a chance to read it!

What happened (minus the racial slurs) and what can we do to help?

I read the original one and it was a solid 95% on the rant scale. But generally people should count to 10 and calm down a little before hitting submit.

You were unlocked by Paul for "cooling down" or something.  Like Z1500 said, just count to 10 or do whatever you need to do next time.  Glad your wife is alright.

I understand the frustration partially.

Last year in May my wife was stopped by construction workers on Cave Creek Road.  A full size pickup truck going (police estimate) 63 mph never touched the brakes and slammed into her.  Thank god I talked her into a Mercedes sedan instead of some cute sporty car.  The Benz was totaled.  I think if she had been in a small car she would have died.  But the wife is basically OK with some back issues.

In our case the driver didn't bolt or anything but their insurance doesn't amount to enough to cover everything.  I suspect after we collect for medical costs this year my insurance will be visiting the owner of the truck and going after anything they might own to cover.  Not my problem but it doesn't make me happy they don't have enough coverage.

Just so anyone reading knows, there is a thing called uninsured and underinsured driver insurance you can subscribe too.  Basically, it covers you if the person who hits you runs or had no insurance etc.  A darn good idea in Arizona I think.

Glad your wife and first child are going to be OK.   Here is my wifes previous car - after.

A must have in AZ with our illegal immigration problem.

Thought this was required for liability only coverage anyways?

I think you're right, gene - I know my insurance (American Family) won't issue a policy without it.

Any plate info, vehicle make, model, etc???

Anything the AZ HTF can do to help catch the guy?

I didn't catch the first post....but I can guess what it's about.

My MIL has been hit three times (not once her fault).....every time it was by an "uninsured", one just took off before the cops got there.  The other two actually waited, for a spanish speaking cop, and were issued citations.  however she never collected, since they weren't insured.  Ended up using her under-insured/uninsured policy - +100000 a definite must.

I've heard estimates that 40% of Maricopa county is uninsured.  Which is just about right in my book of stats.

I was doing some road work concrete in Prescott and we were right next to a major intersection. It was a red light and this car comes screaming down the lane, tries to stop but doesn't make it in time. SLAMS into the back of a big SUV. Almost instantly all three "mexican nationals" jump out and take off running in different directions. The lady in the SUV climbs out just in time to see it. Me and the guys on my crew just look at each other, shake our heads and laugh. What are you gonna do?

I didn't have a rifle at the time.

The crash and run scenario has become way too common here.  Coming back from Prescott once, I got stuck in some bad traffic because someone rolled his SUV loaded with people and had multiple ejections/fatalities but the driver was OK enough to run away into the desert.  It doesn't matter what race you are, if you run from a accident, you are scum and need to be dealt with.

As far as compact cars, they are good as far as gas savings but there is a good reason why I'll never drive a car like this:

This thread shows why it is important to have a cell phone that has a camera,  and she should have immeidately started taking pics of both cars and his lic. plate. before anyone moves any vehicle.   Had she gotten pics of him, his plate, and of the two cars......the ass would not have run off.    And if he still had, the cops would have something to run with.

I can see the humor in watching someone get rear ended, and watching the driver of the hit vehicle flee on foot.
That's a good one.

Well we weren't laughing at what just happened so much as at the situation. It's something that happens all too often with traffic accidents around here. I mean come on, what were we gonna do - run the guys down?

I really dont why someone would want to own one of them cars...   Heard they are not that good on gas anyways and are pricey....  Seem you would do better with a few year old honda/nissan..

Your right of course,,,,
The victim likely had her own insurance she had paid for, and I'm sure the illegal driver who got away from the scene, was thinking the entire time he was running for what seemed his life, how he had learned his lesson, and would there after, be a model citizen of ,,,,,,, well, never mind.
It's all good.

Someone explain uninsured/underinsured insurance to me.

I have 0 ded. full coverage on 2 of my vehicles.  I have medical insurance.  If someone hits me and wrecks my car and hurts my, won't I already be covered for my losses by my comp/collision and medical insurance?

Proliferation of an intarweb myth.  The vehicle that is crushed can be identified by the rims and it is not a 'smart car'.  Very few cars would have made it in any better condition considering the physics in play in the photo.

I drive a truck.

OP didn't offend me at all.

It's more for liability then full coverage.

Just in case you don't know (though i'm betting you do), liability only covers the other car if you get into an accident and you caused it. If the other driver caused it and doesn't have coverage then at least your uninsured/underinsured will cover the damages at that point. It's almost like having full coverage, but not quite.

I think I still don't understand.

Uninsured/Underinsured is only for bodily injury, not property damage.  In other words, it doesn't help you at all unless you are seriously hurt and have no medical insurance...

If that's wrong, can someone explain??
