So I'm doing my taxes online and a get asked to enter the information from Form 1099-G.  Well I'd never heard of that form before so I looked around online and apparently you have to report your state income tax refund on your federal return now.  These are supposed to have been mailed by the end of January.  Has anyone received their's yet?

If that;s the little postcard sized thing from the state, then Yes.
Mine didn't say what it was other than that it is "an important tax return document." However upon closer inspection of the fine print it is the 1099-G.

In case you care what it looks like its from the "Arizona Department of Revenue" and has perforations along the sides and the top. It's post card sized and has a big E-File logo on the back,

Unfortunately that has been the law for many years.

It is odd because I've done my taxes using the H&R Block online service for at least the last 4 years and this is the first time I've ever been prompted to enter any information from it.  I guess I better go look through the pile of mail in front of my shredder.

Yeah...because overpaying the state is the same as income.

I hear that the Fed's changed the dates for reporting from many agrency's / businesses.  It used to be Jan 31st.  Now for most forms its  between Feb 2 and the 17th.

I use Taxact and it imports the info from the year before, it is the state refund you got the prior year.  It has been taxable as long as I can remember.  Set up your withholding so you don't get a refund on state taxes and you won't have to worry about it.
