I'd go, but shooting competitively against the CavArms crew is like running a marathon against Kenyans.

That is a WEAK excuse dude!! Besides the entertainment factor is so high, who cares about winning? Seriously, come try it.

Rick got second, Don 6th, and myself 7th.  We do not purport to be gods of shooting, anyone with time and money can do this stuff.  "I won't win anyway" is a lame excuse to not participate in shooting competition.  The purpose of competition is to test yourself against your peers, learn, and improve ones own skills.

Just moved to AZ and would really like to try something like this.  I have tried IDPA style events, but nothing with my rifle.  Besides the rifle, a ton of ammo, and a smile.....what else would you consider critical gear?  Hope this isn't too general, and thanks in advance.

Nope, headshots ONLY! No chance of shooting through the holes that way

Steve-OH, you are coming to the next one right?

Sinistral has no "lighten up" mode. The sense of humor is underdevoloped in that one...

You will need something to hold at least one spare mag for your rifle and pistol on your body, a good holster, and a sling for your rifle. Water, snacks, sunscreen, eyepro, hearing pro, and something to carry all that stuff in, and thats about it. It helps to zero your rifle ahead of time too

Check out actshooters.com for more info, or feel free to IM me with other questions.

Is it going to be in Phoenix? If it's on a Saturday, yeah man I'll come.

I was just checking out the website. The guy that won was using iron sights? Impressive.

Arizona is the Mecca of Competitive Shooting.  Here is just a small sample of regularly occurring matches

Every Tuesday Night Pistol Steel at Rio Salado
Every Thursday Night Pistol Steel at Phoenix Rod and Gun
Every Second Saturday Rifle/Shotgun at Rio Salado
Every Third Saturday ACTS (Rifle/Pistol) in Tucson
Every Fourth Sunday 3 Gun at South Mountain
Every 5th Saturday Subgun/PCC at Rio Salado
Every 5th Saturday .22 Carbine/PCC at Phoenix Rod and Gun

....and there are many others that I don't know about first hand.  If you want to get into competition shooting, this is the place to be.

Multi-Gun Match Schedule for March:

8th USPSA 3 Gun @ Rio Salado
14th Rifle/Shotgun @ Rio Salado
21st ACTS in Tucson
22nd 3 Gun @ Phoenix Rod and Gun
26-29th Superstition Mountain Mystery 3 Gun Match (match is probably full, but you can come watch)

If you guys want an intro to multi-gun competition class, I can do one at the shop for free (it's been a while since I put one on)

If you want to do one with range time, we can do one in Casa Grande for $15.00 per person to drag out our steel targets and target stands.

I had a blast and the kicker is I used my .45 ACP Cav Mk2 that I purchased from Russel the day before the match.

The upper ran like a champ and I had a blast.

If you run one with range time I would be up for it.
