Ok with all these posts about those damn speeding camera's I had a question. Hypothetically what if you got a ticket in the mail because your wife was speeding and got caught. Does that count as being served? What if the dumb wife called them about the ticket? Is it served now? Does the intersection with the camera in it have to be marked? Is there anyway that I don't have to pay the $191 dollar charge? Just wondering I'm new to this state and to be honest with you I've never gotten a ticket before. I'm not looking for the debate on whether or not we should have these camera's in the first place I just want some honest awnsers from people who might have been through the same thing.

If she called them about the ticket, she just confirmed she got notice. Your done, pay it and move on.

It is hard to get out of paying it.
You think anyone else wants to pay it ?
They have heard all the excuses mutliple times.
Once in a while someone will get out of it, but most do not.

With tickets issued by a (living) officer, you can often go to traffic school, and take no points hit on your license, or your insurance.

With mechanized citations, I don't know.

Good Luck!

I forgot about traffic school, maybe that would be an option.

You can definitely go to traffic school for a ticket from a red light camera.  One thing to remember though is that you can only go to traffic school once every two years.

Unless you have a Commercial Driver's license and it is in a Commercial Vehicle.

The insurance companies are lobbying to get the photo tickets to go against your points according to the local news.

They want to be able to cash in on rate hikes.

And... traffic school is a waste of time.  It costs about as much as the fine  in some cases,(YEAH!  YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! ) and then you lose a weekend day of your life sitting with a bunch of other schmucks.

Do it on the internet. Took me about 4 hours total. It was about the same as the ticket though...

You can do it online now?  WOW!  Shows you how often I get a ticket.

Either way... the last time I got a ticket I just paid it.  My insurance co was never the wiser.

Yeah, I got one last year driving back from a band gig at a bar in Mesa. It was 2am, I was tired and just trying to get home. First ticket I had since I was 19.

The class was "timed". You had to spend a minimum amount of time on each page. You also then had to take the test in front of a notary and have them notarize the certificate to send in. Luckily my sister-in-law's brother is a notary so I just had him come over and notarize it for me and I bought him a beer.
