Dayum. My wife talked me into upgrading to High Def tv service. OK, I'm thinking no big problem we already got Directv service.
So I call them up, and we reach an agreement. They install a new dish on the roof for free and I pay x dollars for the new recievers and y dollars for the service to follow. Works for me so I say yes. We schedule a visit to install new equipment. Day comes. delivery between 12 and 4. Guy calls at 4 and says he is running late. OK, no biggie shit happens come on over. He arrives goes up on roof and comes back down and says he needs a special dish mount that doesn't penetrate the roof. I have a flat roof here. OK, so? Well, he doesn't have one so we have to reschedule. There goes a hlaf day out of my life. Day 2 comes and schedule is 8-12. Guy shows up at 9 AM. Cool. Has the right mount and all. Says of course the special non-penetration mount is $100 more. I say - not to me. Spend an hour on various phone calls to determine that a) Directv doesn't have a single employee in the Phoenix area. These are all subcontractors. b) he is trying to rip me off. After a lot of talk I am promised Directv will credit my account with $65 for the mount if I'll give this guy that amount and he should do the job for that. OK I say. Guy says no it cost him $70 for the mount and stuff so if I reschedule a guy will come out and do it for that amount. Scratch another fucking day AND I know someone tried to bone me. Day 3 comes (not consecutive days of course) and the guy calls at 9 AM. My wife tells him, like she tells all delivery guys, if your car leaks oil park on the road. Guy arrives at 9:30 parks in the driveway and has a peice of shit car leaking like a sieve. By the time I get him to move the car my wife comes out and is pissed off. To her credit no swearing or yelling, just flat out telling the guy he was told not to do it and what the heck is wrong with him. She starts to clean up the oil and while no one is looking he leaves. Spend more time on phone to get another tech out. He arrives around 11 AM and the upgrade to HD isn't done until 4 PM. He is in and out of the house about 30 times. I'm not totally knocking this guy he worked hard and got called in on his day off, but dayum. There were two bad parts and he could have been a bit more organized IMO. IN any case we FINALLY got it done. Had I known I would have not done it. It wasn't worth it. Years of being a customer and happy with them down the tubes because they don't have a clue how to do installations. Oh, and of course in the meantime the new TV was delivered and arrived with a hole in the screen.
Fuck TV. I'm going OUT.

Typical. We had Direct TV installed about 3 months ago. We were told installation was free, yet the guy comes and installs the dish and says he has to charge us $65 for a "special installation". Not only that, he had my wife make the check out to him. I call Direct TV and they tell me that we shouldnt have made the check out to him and I should call the company and tell them. I explain that I work for a living and cannot make phone calls on there behalf to yell at their dishonest subcontractors.
Long story short, they credit the $65 that we paid back to our account when I threatened to cancel service, tell them to get their shit off my roof and explain I would be writing a letter to the attorney general. |

I upgraded last year to Direct HD and TIvo. Got free 4 room installation, new sat/mount. I had zero problems. Call and complain get stuff for free.
I called to cut off 2 of the 7 receivers(boxes in travel trailer) we had, and to lower my package. I got HD for free for a year, HBO free for 6 months, and a $28 dollar credit. Ended up bill is $48.00 cheaper, and no services lost, gained free HBO. Never hurts to call. |
