Greetings. Just PCS'ed to Fort Huachuca. Although this is my first time living in AZ my family is from here. Mom grew up in Williams and my Unlce lives in Scottsdale and he taught me to shoot in the Arizona desert. Any good gun shops in the Sierra Vista area or do I need to go to Tucson? Look forward to meeting some of you. |

You live in gunstore heaven. First Ft H has the plinking range open on weekends and it is run by some retired folks with a lot of shooting experience. The Trailboss Outfitters on Fry is Tactical and Cowboy heaven. The gunsmith is Mike Benton, former OIC of the Ft. Huachuca Rifle team and VN Vet. Helping out in cowboy costume will be retired LTC Bill Maploes past Deputy Commander of Ft. H. A Berlin Vet. Then Bernie Morrison of Morrison Precision who makes custom barrels nowadays has an office in Trailboss, Bernie is former 5th Group also. Elsewhere Mike Chasse, also former 5th Group Warrent Officer owns Thunder Mountain Custom Rifles and he also has his own large machine shop. Mike is one of STI's master dealers. Across the street from Trailboss sort of is another new gunstore that has more and more reloading stuff. Bisbee has 2nd Ammendment firearms and has lots of used stuff, I [ocled up a Savage 99 there last year. On Highway 90 we have a big well maintained NRA range with all kinds of competition. |
