So the guys at work have been saving their empty cans of Cope and Skoal for me.  And I just discovered that one of the new small plastic bottles of Tannerite will fill six of those cans!  Not gonna be as big a boom as a full bottle, but hell, it'll make the Tannerite go a long way and they'll be fun to shoot.

Anyone tried it yet?

35mm film canisters work also. the problem with using center fire rifles to set off ones of that size is the report from the rifle detracts from the tannerite report.

I've used the film cans before, tied on strings, and they are fun.  I'm not concerned about the report more than I am about having reactive targets.  Seems to hold the kids' interest more.

A friend of mine was once given a box of some kind of railroad markers.  They were little square packets with metal wires on each end, designed to be tied to the tops of train tracks, and when the trains go over them, they explode.  That was my understanding anyway.  Well, let me tell you, those are fun as hell to shoot.  They'll go off with just about any caliber (including subsonic .22).
