So I finally decided to pick up my 1st 1911 pistol, and I have been reading a lot of revviews of different pistols.  I have read a lot of good one's on the newer Taurus 1911 and it is only $600.  Anyone here actually shoot one or fondle one?  I was just wondering what you thought about it.

I've played with them alot, sold about 30 of them in the past few months, and i've considered picking one up myself. I heard of a problem with the ejector when they were first released, but it was fixed with the 2nd gen models. Havent heard anything else bad. Its a lot of bang for your buck.

Im not supposed to advertise for my place, but look around and you can find the basic model for around $525 new. The stainless model and the model with a rail were released recently too.

I have held two. One was at Sportsmans 101 and 17. Was loosey-goosey. The parts didn't seem to fit well together. But I held another at Randalls and it felt just fine.

I thought about picking one up myself. I've owned a couple Kimbers before, a Warrior and a Pro Carry. But I decided for the price, for $699 I can buy a Kimber Custom II for only a little more. Now if I could find one for trade or a used one for a screamin' deal, I would probably pick one up.

I own one and I have had no problems with it, none what so ever. It is as accurate as I am and dead nuts reliable, the only thing I've done is add some grips that where a little thicker, that's all and I have around 1500-2000 rnds through it. Get one and you will be happy, if not maybe I'll buy it from you.

I have a blued one and I love it. Works perfectly, no problems - I even shot a high round count competition with it and had no malfunctions. Probably well over 2000 rnds down the pipe.

I keep thinking about it and going back and forth. Part of me says for $150 more I can get a Kimber. The other part says for that $150 I save that is nice grips and a holster.

I have a buddy that is an ex-Army Ranger and used to be a Class 3 FFL. He has nothing but good to say about Taurus. In fact he stated he would take his Taurus 92 over the Beretta M9 he had in the Army any day.

I love the hell out of mine and like it better than my Kimbers and Springers.

I hae been seeing them for $550-$600.  I think I will try to find one to fondle it and see what I think

They seem like great guns, I am prety sure the parts are not interchangable with other brands though so no upgrading. I like the stainless railed version though.

The Taurus is a true dimension 1911, so all parts are interchangable.

I've transferred a couple and took the opportunity to fondle them. From the ones that passed through my hands, they seemed to be pretty well made with good fitting all the way around. I didn't care too much for the trigger, but I've been pretty spoiled with my other 1911's. Also, have you looked into the STI Spartan?
