| I posted this thread in the DIY forum, but am not geting much traffic. I'm sure the AZ HTF has forgotten more about air conditioners than the rest of ARFCOM will ever know. Any suggestions ? |

You need pressure readings if you believe the compressor is running. Not a big deal, just connect the manifold set to your service ports. The smaller (hot) line is the high pressure side, the larger line is the (cold) or suction line. Connect the gauges with the system off, and record the static pressure & ambient temperature before starting the unit. Record the pressures with it running, then shut it down. If the contactor is closing when called for, check the compressor side of the contactor for voltage when it is closed - sometimes the contacts crap out, and not enough current flows to run the compressor. Leaks happen, it does not mean your compressor is gone. Once you drop below the critical charge, it will not cool - but just before that point it will seem "ok" Lem |
