Who else has rafted this stretch of the river? It's been years and I think I'd like to try it again.

And since the wait on the Colorado (read: Grand Canyon) is lengthy, one can not simply pick up and go.

Did it about four years ago. It was a fun day.

I think this was the group we went with. My wife had been on trips with them before on the Animus.

Permits are required for the non-Indian portion of the upper Salt.  They are given out by lottery and are hard to get.  It costs $10 to apply for the lottery.

The USFS is considering raising the permit fee from $75 to $125.  However, the trip through the Salt River Wilderness is some of the best whitewater in the West and well worth the hassle of getting the permit, dealing with the 'paches, and all the trip logistics.

I did the colorado last year(oct) for 4 days, had a great time.  My brother in law owns a rafting company in flagstaff and he goes down the salt and verde rivers every year.  I thought the colorado rivers long wait only applied to businesses,  i thought for personal use you can do it anytime.  I may be wrong though.

I did it about 6 years ago, it was pretty fun but the water was really low, we had to get out and drag the boats over some of the most shallow sections of the river.

If you're referring to the Colorado River through Grand Canyon, there is no more waiting list, per se. Non-commercial permits there are now also issued by lottery.
