Thanks for the help!

The easiest route is the Trust route, as it bypasses the whole CLEO signoff thing. If you have a family, you should have a Living Will and Trust anyway, so this is a no-brainer.

If you are dumb enough to ignore the above advice , then you can download the forms from the BATFE website, and then fill them in and take them to your CLEO for signoff (Sherriff Joe if you life in maricopa County).

I suggest you take this topic to the General Class 3 forum, as the advice you get there will be good in AZ.

You can order the forms and finger printcards from the BATF website and have them sent to your house. They usually mail them within 3-4 days. You will need AT LEAST ...2-Form 1's, 2-"Certification of Compliance" (Citizenship) and 3-ATF fingerprint cards, but I would order a few more of everything you need.

You will also need to have 3 PASSPORT photos taken, 1 for each Form 1 and 1 for MCSO (Alphgraphics).

I would call MCSO and see when a good time to get printed is....they can get VERY busy. MCSO or LEO HAS to do the printiing, don't waste your time and money going to a private agency like "Fingerprints R Us". I think the going rate for the 3 cards is $24, and they don't take checks...bring cash. There is a Credit Union across the street at 2nd Ave and Jefferson for notary of MCSO'S paperwork.

When you are done, they willl take your paperwork, It USUALLY takes a few to several weeks to processs the paperwork. BE PATIENT!! Don't call there twice a week to see where your Forms are. They have a tendancy to make impatient people wait longer.

When you get your Forms back from MCSO, cut the BATF a check for $200 and wait some more. The BATF can take several weeks up to months to proceess...again, BE PATIENT.

You will eventually get your Forms back from the ATF and there will be a Tax Stamp on it. MAKE COPIES OF THE FORM. Keep a copy with your SBR AT ALL TIMES.... i.e going to the range, transporting it from place to place etc.. Keep the original in a safe place. Good luck!!

Get the forms & 3 fingerprint cards (1 for MCSO and 2 for BATF) from the ATF.+
Get 3 passport photos 1 for MCSO and 2 for BATF

Contact MCSO and have them fax or mail you their forms. You will need to have their form notorized and provide them with a fingerprint card and passpoert photo in addtion to those required by the ATF.

The best way I have found is to take your Fingerprint cards to Phoenix PD HQ (7th ave & Washington) get printed & have the MCSO form notarized (they have a notary on staff at the PD. MCSO does not and will not notarize the form) Cost at Phoenix PD is $6 per card. Cost at MCSO is $8 per card. Bring cash either way.

After you get the finger prints done drop the paperwork off at the MCSO civil office in the first floor of the court house on 2nd ave and Jefferson. Then wait for MCSO to get your paper work signed. They say it can take 90 days but all 4 of mine were done in 2-3 weeks.

If you need any other info just PM me or e-mail me at samuraimikeATcox.net

Hope this helps

Yep. Just call and speak to Erin she'll even fax the form to you along with a list of what you need to do/bring when you drop off your paperwork. It's really easy once you get the first one done.
I say first because there will be more
