Hive opinion of HiPoint Firearms.  I'll be over here-------------------------------------->

I have been researching a black 9mm carbine, no compensator, with Red Dot and a 9mm pistol for my wife to consolidate some of my ammo buying.

Please don't flame each other and get my thread locked, just personal experiences.  9mm or .40 caliber carbine?  4X25 scope? Red Dot sight? Laser? Compensator?  Recommended dealers with good stock of said carbines on the SW borders?

I know some immediately dismiss pistol caliber rifles.  OK, I've heard it.  I have a Garand.

If your friend's second cousin had one that misfired one time, not enough information.

Seem to be all positive comments on their website, which is to be expected.

No I can't afford a more expensive rifle at this time and I always find something else to buy in the midst of saving, like ammo or another firearm.  Possibility of a training class coming up before I could save, anyway.

Thanks

This is NOT personal experience with the Hi-Point, just what I have read (and reread).  But at least I'll get the ball rolling:

Those that have them seem to like them and think they are an exceptional value for the money.

Those that can't get past the looks / cost / concept / etc, tend to not buy them, and wonder (sometimes with their "angry voice") how any one could overlook the obvious problems with it.

FWIW, I did look at one, and did not like the way it "fit" (nor did I like the Berreta Storm or the UZI with that absurd long BBL, or a couple others I looked at) The 2 I liked (and YMMV) were the CaDOJ H&K 94 and the AR, both in 9mm.  I went with the AR (about a third the cost, and the ability to swap uppers).  I don't have any idea what it is good for!. but I will tell you it's a blast to shoot, a great next-step gun from 22 to centerfire for the wife and kids, or, and didi I mention it's a blast to shoot! .  If you want one, and you like the way the Hi-Point feels, I think you should get it.

JMHO

Thanks VBB I agree fit is very important.  Looks are secondary if it doesn't feel right.  I have not yet seen one in person, so that may a be a complete rejection.  I have shot an AR and I have to agree with you there, just a little out of my price range.

Get a 9mm.  Cheaper to shoot.  Someone makes a stock that makes it look like a Beretta.  Looks like a high-dollar rifle with it.  Everyone that I know of that has one enjoys them.  Not sure about the .40 though.

Found the stock link...

Oh yeah... stick with factory mags ONLY.  Only reliability problems I'm aware of.
