Does anyone know if there is a local source for barrel re-profiling.  I have a Bushy 16in HBAR that I would like to have re-profiled to M4.  I have talked with Kurts Kustom Firearms in FL but I would like to stay local if possible.  Thanks

save your money and leave it alone, but if you're bound and determined, we have a CNC lathe

Well it was my first AR and I didn't know about the M4 when I bought it.  My barrel has less than 1k rounds through it so I hate to get rid of it.  Kurts Kustom charges $75 (which includes re-parkerizing and removing and re-installing the barrel in the upper)plus $15 return S&H plus my cost to ship which totals just over $100.  What would you charge???

Let me ask the guy who runs the machine, but we have park tanks and such, so I'm pretty sure we can match that price (and most likely beat it). Just to make sure we on the same page... Turn it thin under the hand guards and notch it forward of the front sight, correct?

Yes that it what I would like done as long as it can be tapered correctly.  Please include in your price removing and reinstalling the barrel in the upper as well as reparkerizing.

Thanks

What's KKFs turn around time? It was only like a week when I had mine done like 6 years ago, but last I heard many months ago, it was a 3-4 week turn around or so. He did a good job for what it's worth.

Have you considered ordering a new barrel, and selling the old one?  A Wilson barrel will run about $150 - $165 new, and I would imagine you can get $80 pretty easily for your barrel.  Or perhaps Garryowen has some M4 barrels?

I have thought about it but the barrel has less than 1k round through it so I hate to get rid of it plus I have no way to remove it as I am lacking the tools.

Gotcha.  The removal thing is easy as long as you have the tools.  I would do it for you, but I'm kind of working 7 days a week right now.  I'll bet someone would do it for a 6 pack though.  Anyone?
