Any organized shooting sport competition qualifies you for this program, just need to send in 4 match results annually. |
Go to Tuesday Night Steel at Rio Salado, they have a beginner's class for you to take and squad you with experienced shooters. |
OK, I looked on the Rio Salado website, 4:00 PM on Tuesdays. What do I need to bring other than gun, ammo, holster, ears, and entry fee? Who else is going? Mike |
You'll need your gun, holster, good belt, 4 mags and 3 pouches (you can probably get away with 3 mags and 2 pouches but it's nice to have the extra in case somethin fails), ear protection, eye protection, 150 rounds and $8 if you're a member or $10 if you're not. I'm usually there every week. |
Why is that again?
Seems like High Power matches are just fine.... |
IPSC, IDPA, Rifle/Shotgun, Highpower, DCM, Small Bore, Cowboy Action (or any real organized shooting sport) all qualify....you just need to send us results from 4 matches with your name in them. |
People in High Power do use our stock sets. You can use the products you buy under this program for whatever you want, training, classes, defense. Our main goal is to encourage people to get involved in formal competition shooting of some kind, and promote the shooting sports. |
Sorry, my initial impression was that it was a 3 gun thing. |
Well since I personally saw you at Mystery Mountain, of course you qualify, please fill out the application and either send it in, or give it to me at the next match though. |
No, training does not qualify. I don't want to even get into that can of worms because people would argue with us about accepting certs from various schools over others. In Arizona you can qualify for this program in one week if you shoot multiple disciplines of competition....it's very easy to do in 2 months if you get on it. no whining! |
|
Only 3 Apps so far... This program allows you to purchase up to $1,000 in product from us annually at a very good discount. Here's a music video I made using footage from a recent major match. www.cavalryarms.com/MM3G/MM3G.wmv Why don't I see more of you guys at these things? Not only is it a good way to become a better shooter, it's FUN! I am quite sure that most of you have the guns and the gear, come use them! If you need to borrow something, I personally have enough guns and equipment to outfit 4-5 guys, just buy your own ammo. |
+1 Those of you who haven't tried it are missing out on a great adrenaline rush during these matches. Another opportunity is coming up.... the monthly 2-gun match (rifle/shotgun) at Rio Salado Sportsman's Club is on April 9th. |
I just wanted to say that I am (and have been, over the last couple of years) seriously impressed with your company and representatives thereof. I've participated in threads/discussions with various CA folk, and have always found them to be of the highest caliber* (pun intended........ see below). I just wish that either you folks were in Texas, or I could be in Arizona. Stand up guys.... the lot of you. Best, Jake. * <dr_evil>By caliber, of course, I mean both the size of their gun barrels and the high quality of their characters. Two meanings ... caliber ... it's a homonym.</dr_evil> |
Jake, thanks for the kind words. We're in Texas fairly regularly for various shooting events... we will most likely be attending the Texas State 3 Gun May 21-22, and We have our 3 Gun Match we are putting on at the TIGER Valley Range in Waco the last weekend of September. |
Anyone know how to get to Rio Salado when coming from Tucson? I've got myself a new 870P and TT vest setup and I'm thinking this just might be the perfect way to break both in. Also, what would approximate rifle and shotgun round counts be and how far do targets range for the rifle portion? |
|
Russ, Do you know of a website to obtain match results from Pima Pistol Club competitions? I'm considering participating in some of their IPSC and IDPA competitions just to get my match count up, and I would also need the results from the 3-gun match I attended with you last year (September?). Thanks. |
I wish to all hell I could, I really do. But most matches require running/moving fast/standing long periods, and my leg will not handle it. If I could find a match that would allow me to rest the leg long enough between disciplines, I'd gladly go! |
Best way would be to take the back way up through Florence to US 60, exit on Ellesworth and take it to the range.
I was personally at that match and we shot on the same squad, so don't worry about proof for it,...for the other matches just request a copy of the results.
Highpower, Trap and Skeet, Small Bore, Silouhette all count for the program too and I think most of them are much less physically demanding. |
oh cmon now, i thought theyd be your favorite type. argue about the merits of some non mainstream caliber and how much better it is than another. all the while everyone thinks youre a nerd for arguing about punching paper. 3 gun? all you have to do is shoot and not get shot back at. here's a quarter. |
Hey retARd, It was a suggestion for richardh247 so he could participate in the CACSP whilst avoiding his medical limitations, not a criticism of benchrest. Maybe you should try to understand context. FOAD. -z |
my, my, my... dont i feel silly |
I just checked Map Quest and that looks simple enough. Start is 8:00 AM right? Is that when the registration starts, when the briefing starts, or when the shooting? Thanks. |
really starts at 9AM....no briefing, at least I have never been there for one you can pretty much show up whenever. |
|
Well, hell, thanks for the tips, ya'll! I'll do some checking and some networking and see which of those I might be able to do. I think trap and skeet would be fun. Is bullseye competition approved for the list of requirements? I'm a pretty damned good shot with a stock .45. I'd rather do something that is more "real world" (ie, involves drawing from concealed holster, reload while moving, etc) but I'll settle for what I can get right now. |
Any organized shooting sport put on by a club or organization qualifies. I just need results from 4 competitions sent in with the application. |
if you are there before 9am, and live farther away than me....you have issues. Russel lives 3 minutes from the range and is usually 20-30 minutes late! (its about a 40 minute drive for me) |
| I'll be at the rio 2 gun also, As for the shooting program goes, thats a great thing Cav is doing. It doesnt matter what shooting sport you participate in, its the effort made by Cav to give something back to the shooting community and try to enhance our sport. Hopefully I can shoot shotgun as well as I did last week at south mountain. |
Want me to bring one of the SST-870s for you to try before you take the plunge? |
|
richardh247 There's a steel challange pistol match every second Sunday at Ben Avery on their practicle pistol bays. There are 7 stages, 5 strings each, 5 steel targets per stage and a head to head shoot off at the end where you shoot at a plate rack and stop plate. Only one stage requires movement and you only move approx. 5'. All the other stages, you stand in a box and blast away. I like the run and gun stuff but this match lets you practice the basics. |
Cool! Thanks, man, that's one I'll be attending definately! Stock 45, 4 mags, 230gr WWB, eye/ear protection... Anything else or suggestions? What time is it? I'll just watch the first couple until I'm sure I'm up to speed. |
