You have multiple lakes to choose from. The Salt system has Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Apache Lake, and Roosevelt Lake. The Verde system has Horseshoe and Bartlett. I personally like Roosevelt the best. Not a lot of people like to make the trip to it. Even last summer when it was at 27%, it was still larger than Saguaro. Now it is up to 87% and it should be close to 100% by the summer. Scott |
| Pleasant in the summer. It is like a party on water. If you don't like the party atmosphere head out to saguaro or bartlett, they are a little toned down from pleasant. Tubing the salt river is lots of fun too, bring a few cases of beer and rent a tube, you'll have a blast. |

... My mommy lived here for quite some time - meaning her place was home base for me to explore God's country surrounding the area. It's a summertime must-see. EAGAR, AZ |
I kinda grew up there, spending every summer up there till I was 15. Both my parents are from that area (Father from Eager, Mother from Spingerville) and I still have my Grandfather, and a few uncles and aunts in Roundvalley, the rest are in Snowflake. I have cought trout from every lake in the area, and from the age of 7 I was exploring Flat Top with my pellet gun, and then my .22 when I was 12. Here's a pic of my grandfather and the deer he took 2 seasons ago in that area at the age of 92. ![]() He hunted this last season at the age of 93 but didn't get anything because the only deer he saw was a "Little 2x3 that deserved to live another year". I'm going up to go fishing with him in a couple weeks, and he will be going with me on my Turkey hunt in Unit 27 at the end of April. |
... Bro, I need to meet you someday soon! ... Dang man, your picture here evokes deep emotions in me. ... Like you I imagine, I love my Grandpa like a father - mine passed away in Eagar four years ago. He was the man that introduced me to hunting & fishing. I miss him so bad. Make time to see your Grandpa soon. |
My Grandfather is the best man I know, I have always respected him, but watching the way he has delt with family tragedy lately and the way he cared for my grandmother and the way he dealt with her death has just amplified it all for me. I could tell stories about him forever, he is from an era when men were honorable and hard working (he still does small painting jobs), and I don't think he has ever let anybody down. Yeah, I love my Grandfather. ETA: you know that area is pretty small, and if your family lived there for a long time I bet our family names would be familiar to each other. My last name is Austin, my mother's family name is Burk. |

It's a great area, here's some pics from my last season deer hunt in Units 1 and 27 (I was in 1, my brother in 27) Which is the area surrounding Round Valley; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There's an Elk in these pics ![]() ![]() Fishing at Big Lake ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
