I bought mine from a board member last October and I love it.  I have the OD green
compact and its great for CCW.  It has a lot of safety features which my girlfriend likes
to shoot with.

I read a lot about finish wearing off but have not had any concerns and i carry mine a lot.

I was concerned with its size and accuracy but no problems i shoot it as well as my full size .45

I purchased one when they were first put out as the XD after springfield purchased the rights from the croation company that made it under the name HS2000, back when it was still a great priced gun.

I love this pistol and would recommend it to anyone.  In fact a buddy shot mine one day at the range and the next day went out and bought one for himself.

The ONLY thing that I don't like is that when the trigger resets it doesn't have the no travel until it breaks again like a glock, the trigger still travels a bit after reset before it breaks.

On the whole though this is a superb pistol and well worth the money.

I remember when they were imported as the HS2000 and everyone bashed them as being a low quality Glock copy. But hell, they were cheap at about $250 new. Then Springfield started importing them and spent big bucks advertising and having gun writers praise them. The price went way up as well.

I have shot them. They have a much higher bore axis than a Glock and the damn grip safety drives me nuts.

Hi Power

Those are your pistol options. Stick with one of them.

I have a XD 40 as well, it's a good shooting, accurate, trouble free weapon.
The only problem is they are somewhat bulky and lend themselves more to open carry as opposed to CCW.

I'm getting a stainless 4" one in for a customer.  Looks like a solid gun but it's really just a Glock with a grip safety.

I am by no means a glock fan.  There mere fact that it is the only brand I can carry on and off duty pains me to no end.......

However the XD is, while made under the same principle, not the same.  the thing that really sets it apart from the glock, and something 1911 shooters will appreciate, is the grips angle of cant.  the glock is at a severe 17 degrees if I remember correctly whereas the XD is at, I think, only 7 or 11 degrees.  basically the exact same cant as a 1911 pistol.  I also like the fact that it does have a grip safety and that it has the little silver "tit" that showes a cocked gun, that may seem small but it is a very quick and easy way to at least know the weapon is in battery.

+1

Glocks have some 'issues' with me, most notably the fact that the grip is at a funky angle compared to everything else out there.  (I also have issues with things like 2# triggers in a gun with no manual safety, but that's more of an issue with the people who modify them that way...)

I have a subcompact XD in 9mm.  It's in my least carried 'carry gun', but that is because I bought it to fill a 'size gap'.  I wanted something between my 1911 and my P32.  It's a sweet shooter, and I do really like it.  I just find that If I'm going to carry something that doesn't fit in my pocket, I'd rather have something with a bigger hole at the end of the barrel.

I really don't know how this pistol bothers anyone but the 'glock snobs' who think that if it's not a Glock, it's crap.  The Grip safety is unobtrusive and doesn't bother me.  The trigger reset is a little funky, but you can 'feel' it and it's REALLY fast once you do.  Recoil with almost any 9 is negligable.

My only knock on it is it's thick.   That's most of the reason that I carry my 1911 more - it's thinner.  But unfortunatly, that's a problem with any double stack auto.

well.. i took into consideration everything that i read here about the SAXD.. and ya know what... the good far outweighed the bad.. and i went and took a look at it.... it felt good in my hand and i liked the safety features, even that funky grip safety.  the grip safety is similar to the 1911 safety, so it should be no big deal.  soooooo.. i'm just gonna have to get it out on the range tomorrow and see how it shoots for myself.. thanks for the imput folks..
