Nearly forgot to tell you about this beauty...

Winchester 94 receiver only- no guts, stocks, etc.  Mirror hard chromed.  The guy wanted $75 for it and said it was a take-off from a rifle "that was a junker."

Well, for $75...  Waitasec, where's the serial number..?

"Ahh, it musta got buffed off when we were cleaning 'er up for the chroming...  Err, howsabout $60?"

Just a guy renting a table with a few nothing-special handguns and the obligatory three random mags that don't fit the handguns.  You'll know if you see him at Crossroads- there aren't too many mirror chromed Winchester 94 receivers out there...

Not as good as the guy with the four Colt M-16 receivers who put JB Weld in the sear holes at the Dec 04 Crossroads, but amusing nonetheless.

Well, who knows where it came from, but serial numbers weren't required, AFAIK, until GCA of 1968.  In fact, looking in my BB of Gun Values, there are a lot of Remington rifles that show "no serial numbers until 1968".  Dunno about Winchester.

Oh, quite so-- pre Nov '68 is perfectly fine if it never had a serial number.  However, even if it was made when Jesus was born and it once had a serial number-- no dice if it's missing or altered.  I've seen a Winchester 94 that was produced before 1900 that had a serial number, so I ran far away.
