other than the fact that it is no longer experimental and you can refrain from adding the unneccesary X in front of the M?

Huh?  There's no problem with M855 on steel.  We do it all the time.  It's awesome at night when the penetrator splaters into a shower of sparks.

you have better targets than I do then.  the one I used stood up to q3131a but 855 would poke holes through it, so I guess it depends on the target

Same, although I think the ultimate downfall of my metal target was a 4x4 ford attempting to run it over.

That's weird.  I did some unscientific research on hardened steel and found M193 to out penetrate M855 significantly due to the higher velocity.

The X refers to it being available for public consumption. The XM855PD is loose packed and there have been reports of as much as 10% of the rounds being damaged.
