Does anyone have/know of, a website with AZ's scanner channels?

I just got mine back up and running and it didn't save any of my programmed channels.

The last time I fooled with mine I got a list from my local Radio Shack.
Been years but they had the local PD/SO and Game and Fish.
Don't know if the still do it or not, worth a try,it was free.

Which ones do you want?

Off the top of my head I can think of a few.... really.

DOC statewide is 156.090
DOC Winslow Complex Control is 154.920
Yuma County Sheriff is 158.805
Navajo County Sheriff is 155.700 or 070, can't remember zactly which one.
DPS district 4 is 460.400, I think District 6 is 460.275....

I have no idea why I have those......

I'm about to sign up for the Technician class at MCC (Amateur HAM license). If I can afford to swallow the price of a good dual-band radio, I may find use for those channels, AZ. Speaking of which, anyone have a good dual-band with backlit screen and buttons that also scans AM aviation channels? I'd be interested!

Sorry, didn't mean to the thread.

Save your time and money..Go to www.qrz.com and study the key words on the nationwide test. That's what I did. You learn about Amateur Radio AFTER you get your ticket anyway... The only dual bander I know that scans Aviation channels is the Icom (There might be more, but that's the only one I know of)

Good luck

Redneck, too late. I already signed up for the class. It was only $28 though, so it wasn't too bad. My friend is going to let me borrow his book, so that will save me $16.

Also, Yaesu (Vertex?) has teh FT-60R that scans AM aviation, but it's fairly new. Best price I saw was $150 on eBay, and the guy selling it ended his auction early to make a trade with somebody else. That didn't make me too happy.

Again, didn't mean to pirate the thread. Although if anyone else is interested, most of these handhelds double as pretty darn good scanners. Get your license and then you can scan/talk with the same radio.

But you can't talk on frequencies you are scanning unless they are in your license range or with another HAM with a higher class license and only in HAM frequencies..

Some radios can be/are modified to talk on police/fire, etc frequencies.. .

I use a scanner to scan unless I only have my HT with me and something is going down and I want to be nosey...

Good luck on getting your ticket....IM me if you have any questions or when you get your license and want to check out your rig... Then join ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) and help out your community in case of emergency... My group was almost called up last week when some bozo cut a line working on our county's tower and 911 and all cellphones were down for 3 hours.

Redneck, thanks for the pointers. I've seen some radio's modded to TX on police/fire channels. I think I'd rather not have those open, just in case I think I'm on some other channel and start talking.

Keep in mind the majority of police departments (and other governmental agencies) have gone or are already on 800 Mhz trunking, and even digital, so your regular analog scanner/HT won't pick them up.

Spaceman got me started on this stuff, and he was having so much fun, I decided to study up on qrz.com. I got my license this past Tuesday.

Another channel to add to the large list above is 155.520. I'm not sure who it belongs to, but I pick up all kinds of stuff on there. I've heard one of the choppers on there as well, which I thought was kind of cool.

Tucson's channels are all 70cm. What gives?

Misery,

Thanks for that info. I've got a few friend who work Phoenix, but I'm not sure which beat. I'll see if they'll tell me.

And my father's got a scanner that covers those Heli channels. I'll have to see if he'll let me borrow it. I'm pretty interested in that type of stuff.
