Can someone recommend a good, left-handed open cary holster for a 9mm Sig 226?  I want something that is secure, allows for a quick and easy draw, and is resistant to adverse enviornmental conditions.  I would like to keep it around $50 or less if possible.  Also, will a riggers belt work well for open carry, or should I get something else?

Thanks in advance.

Uncle Mikes kydex and Bladetech are good choices.  Rigger's belt is fine....unless you want to be stylin' like Garryowen get a big leather belt with skull and cross bones belt buckle on it.

Carrying a weapon without a locking mechanism openly is inviting trouble. Bianchi carry-lok or some other holster with a retention device (other than the gimmick "Pinch") would be your best bet.

Retention is much more of a concern when carrying in the open.

COP 3-Slot is the best all around open and concealed carry holster I've ever owned.

Now I have a drawer full of holsters that I never use.

situational awareness is much more important when carrying in the open too...

I don't believe locking devices are entirely neccessary for citizens, as we're not required to wade into crowds of unruly people and actively apprehend criminals....the best thing to do if things seem wierd is to just leave before something bad does happen.  That said a retention device won't hurt.

I do wish Safariland would make a holster that works on a standard pants belt with the roto-lock hood.

Also important is belt and shoe coordination!  When armed you must look good!

Don't forget!...   A gun is a very "butch" accessory!  Don't be affraid to soften your ensemble with a nice silk ascott!

Damn, that was going to be my next question.  They do make one that will fit onto a duty belt, correct?
