I will be driving from LV to Phoenix, is the 93/40/17 route a better choice than 93 through to Phoenix? Not a rushed drive, but if there's a compelling reason one way or the other I'd be happy to hear it. Yahoo Maps recommended the 93/40/17 way instead. Driving Suburban, probably with a trailer on it. |

I took 93 almost exclusively between the two cities. I think there was a small portion involving the 40 (which was also 93) but it was pretty much 93 all the way. From looking at an atlas, it also appears to be the shortest way between the two points-- using 40 to Flagstaff and 17 south seems like you're going out of the way. The only bad thing about keeping on 93 is the lack of facilities (food, gas, etc.) between Kingman and Wickenburg. Mike |

No problems going that way. Occasionally traffic will be slow at certain parts, I hope you won't be the slow guy holding everybody else back. There are passing lanes every few miles, though, so it's not too bad. Crossing hoover dam might be an issue with a trailer. Sometimes they have vehicle inspections for car bombs, so you'd better leave your civil rights in kingman. They usually set up an inspection point a few miles before the dam. You'll save a lot of time if you go that way. ~Doug |

Do not cross Hoover Dam while pulling a trailer. You will be stopped and inspected, which could result in a considerable delay. See the link for information. www.desertusa.com/colorado/lm_nra/hoover/du_hoover.html You should continue down 95 and cross over into Arizona at Laughlin and continue to I-40 at Kingman. |

I don't know,I live in the Bullhead area and the last time we came home from Phx. was thru Wickinburg/Wikiup(sp)/Kingman/Gold'n Vly. I hate that road! It's longer but I like the 95 from Needles /Parker/Quartsite/I-10 route alot better. You can make time on the I-10 and you don't have all the mountain switchback crap. Edit>: Don't go to Flag, way out of your way. |
Before I pass through AZ.
