Greetings all, I have replied once or twice in this forum, but 99 percent of my postings are in S-F.  I am glad to see there are a bunch of AZ-ARFCOM'ers here, mostly from the PHX valley.  One of these days I might venture down there and meet at a shoot or range, but not until it gets below triple digits for good.  WW, you still owe me a drink for my fall in the Canyon, and I will take you up on that one of these days.  Anyways, just checking in to say HOWDY and hopefully to put some faces with these names one of these days.

... Dang bro! I was in Flag two weeks ago looking for property to buy. I should have looked you up. I'm still fond of the Beaver Street Brewery micros. I hope to have a summer/retirement place up the in the Kachina Village/Munds Park area in the not-too-distant future.

The shooting ranges are good here, unless of course you want to shoot from a bench at precise distances...  I need to build a portable bench or two and get a rangefinder, and perhaps have a shoot up here.

ETA  beaver street's pale ale is quite nice, especially in the boilermaker configuration!

We need a planned Summer shoot up there. I drove all over the place up there last year trying to find a spot for about 150 people. We also need a 200 yard range or longer.  This will be a camping shoot.

Also WW I went through Munds Park area several times. Nice area for land.

Is there still any good prairie dog hunting near Seligman? It's been over ten years since I've been up there.

... Yes, certainly after the minsoon rains hit.

... also Jeff_Davis_was_Right. IIRC three was an abandoned volcanic rock quarry/pit N/W of town on State 180 that was mildly popular with shooters. Do you know the spot I'm talking about?

... Can you do some research with AZ Game & Fish, BLM or whomever to get a blessing on he spot for an organized event? Remind then the for the most part were professionals and we're willin to wait until the rains come in late July to reduce the fire dangers.

Fire season is gonna be a killer this year. Hope for real rain....

Beaver Street sux for gaggling at the womenz, I prefer Oregano's. <looking over shoulder for wife>

Anyone ever think about shooting around Meteor Crater (or in the general area, Twin Arrows, etc)?

JDWR, if you get an eye on a praire dog town in the sticks, let me know!

Why is everyone saying this year is going to be worse for fire??  I camp on the rim about 7 times each year, and this year has been pretty good for rain and snow.  It doesn't seem near as dry as it did last year or the year before.  The FS is full of shit.  They just like to close roads so you can't go anywhere.  Dumb asses start more fires with their "controlled burns" than campers.

All of the beetle-killed junipers north of town are dry enough for one fire to burn all the way to the Canyon right now.  We are behind our rainfall and snowpack, and San Francisco Peaks and Utah's Henry's have almost lost their snowcaps.  (The caps usually last through July!)  Granted, the forests are not closed, but they may be soon, especially with the dry windy conditions that have persisted for most of this spring.  I would like to get the blessing of USFS for an event, and the quarry areas WW is talking about (just north of Baderville, on FR 222, a couple miles west???) would be a great spot.  It is getting a lot more developed around there, so I dunno about any .50 shooting, but there are a couple of spots that would work.  The area is gaining popularity as a spot, so we could sweeten the deal with USFS by adding that we would rake up brass and haul a couple washing machines out of there.  Plenty of camping around there as well.  An August shoot?  How bout it?

Maybe we're talking about a different place.  I was just on the rim a month ago, and it wasn't very dry at all.  Not to mention, I hardly see why you can't shoot whatever up there.  You must be talking about a place that's not very hard to get to.

I don't do the maps, my friend is the map guy.  I'll ask him where 222 is.  The place we just went is off 142F.  I can't tell you more than that since I don't know all the numbers.

By the way, the FS can kiss my ass.
