I'm looking for a gunsmith to thread a Marlin 1894C but I haven't found much in the area. I'd like to avoid shipping it to have it threaded and haven't had any luck finding anyone good yet. I'm on the West side of Cleveland in Lorain county but anywhere within reasonable driving distance is fine.
Thanks! |

He is down in North Royalton. But if it's precision work, I use Mark Gordon at Short Action Customs in Wellington. |

I have a buddy who's a gunsmith who's been working for years under another company that just hung up his own shingle out in Port Clinton. Artemis Arms is the name. I sent him a message to see if that's something he can do. I messaged him. No website yet, but Artemis Arms has a facebook page. Can call at 419 732 7077. Edited to add, he definitely can do it. Has 3 lathes and quick turnaround. |

He does some side work for them clearing out their backlog, but that's the other company's project/business etc. (Some of their management decisions and methods were the reasons he left.) Don't think you can hold that against him. |

I've seen Gary's Bunker before but his website is a little lacking, I couldn't tell where he was located. North Royalton isn't too far though. How is his work? Any idea on the price, he only lists $50/hr on his webpage?
The only other place I know is Republic firearms and training center and he is a little lacking on his communication and has a slow turn around. |

I believe he has a contact page on his website and is usually pretty responsive with e-mails. You'd have to ask him for an estimate on hours. I've only used him for NFA engraving and have been satisfied. I've seen his shop and the projects he has worked on and it seems like quality work to me. |

There is someone in the canton who also does refinishing work(plate barrels gold - etc) I used him to thread my ruger mark II barrel. I clearly stated I wanted it threaded for suppressor and even provided him a drawing. When I got it he threaded it too long (AR length) and it wasn't close to being concentric to the bore. He blamed ruger for his crappy thread job.
I had to cut my barrel shorter than I wanted, and had to have another guy fix his screwups. |
| ADCO would be the place if you don't mind shipping or making two trips to Toledo. I have used Gary for metal work and engraving. His work is excellent and his turnaround time is even better. Less than a week in most cases. He works out of his home. Just call him and he should give you a quote over the phone. |

Quoted: ADCO would be my top choice if they weren't almost 2 hours away. Given their reputation it may be worth mailing the barrel and tube to them if nothing closer shows up. I think I'm going to try and email the guy from North Royalton and see what he says. I am going to send them my M9 Barrel and slide to have threaded. I have had them do some other work for me in the past, very pleased. |
