| so how many of you guys hunt with 10mm? i dont own a 10mm, but when i was looking at handguns to carry on the farm in minnesota when i go there, 10mm seemed to be the only caliber in semi auto that could be used in defense from animals if needed. the 40 has a 6" barrel, so i could get into handgun hunting here too. anyone looking to get one of these? |

Howdy, Nape!
No--I don't hunt with a 10 (at least not yet!) BUT--stay tuned--my local Akron FFL and Dealer who is at the 2015 SHOT Show in Vegas called to tell me that there seems to be a whole lotta interest in getting the 10MM back "front-and-center." That is, more pistols, more loads, more boolits, more brass, more accessories (#3.5 lb connector/trigger etc.) as Martha Stewart would say: "...and that's a good thing!" Put a mini red-dot or laser on that dude and you're GTG!
see what's going on with the Model 20s over at Glock Talk or at Guns & Ammo Glock 20 |

Yep, I've hunted whitetail with a 10mm, taken 3 so far, all were taken from 20 to 45 yards, took 4 shots to drop the three, I kind of wasted the second round on the first deer I shot as it was already on the ground, the second round (head shot) kept it there.
Pistol is a 1911 5" barreled Dan Wesson "Sportsman" model, with Mike McNett's 180 gr. JHP Double-Tap ammo. I also have a 10mm Thomson Center Contender with a 10" barrel, haven't taken the time yet to get it dialed in yet, on my bucket list. Shot placement is "Key" |

I know where a 1066 is, pretty sure its for sale. I considered buying it, I have a Gen 2.5 And a Gen 4 Glock 20, neither of them get much action, probably don't need another. Unfortunately the1066 doesn't meet the barrel length requirement for hunting. I'm considering upgrading the springs in my 4506 and shooting 45 Super out of it. |
