My little Brother said he was up there today and they had .22lr in stock........

They took bulk packs, split them up, and were selling sandwich baggies of 50 rounds each by the register for about $5 a pop.

WTF is this shit?

Dunno.  I saw it, too.  Someone was buying a couple of bags when I walked in there today.

Hope and Change?

Your little brother's first mistake was going to Target World.... His second mistake was going to Target World

I am continuously baffled that people still go there. Terrible range. High prices (even pre panic).  Terrible (more like non-existent) customer service. What is the attraction?

I'm kinda suprised your wondering what it's all about. I quit going there when I walked in for the third time with a pocket full cash willing to spend high prices because they had the exact firearm I was looking for behind the counter and I could take it home that day and could not get any service. Kd27 completely nailed it with his post.

I haven't heard of it until today.  I had to look it up after the phone call.

I had a situation just like yours.  I had cash in my pocket, ready to buy an FNP45 and walked into Vandalia Tactical.

I walk in mid day on a week day (prior to the panic) and the store is empty.  The old guy working the counter has a chair pulled up with 2 of his buddies who stopped by to hang out and shoot the shit; they're on the customer side of the counter and he is on the employee side.  All three of them are sitting in chairs and yapping like old women.  I walk in, take 5-10 minutes to snoop around and then quickly identify what I'm looking for.  Never, during this initial 10 minutes did he ask if I needed help.  I wasn't upset about it though, because I wasn't ready to be helped yet.  So then I stand there staring at him while he talks to his boy friends.  I continue to stare (I'm right over his 2 buddies shoulders and within 5 ft -- he can't help but see me.  He could only not notice me if he tried.)  and stare and stare.  I finally start giving out a few loud sighs, a couple of head nods when he glances at me, and even waved at one point.  He just continues to talk with them.

Finally after a solid 10 minutes of trying to get his attention, he looks up and says, "You need something?"  I went down the street to Vandalia Range and Armory to pick up the FNP......will never go back to Vandalia Shitactical.

Hmmm.... I would think its illegal. The bullets are part of a large bulk pack, amd im sure they are tripling their profit that way.
Not 100% on this, but any place that fleeces their customers is a place to aviod.

Nothing illegal about it.  That's $50/500, which is about the going rate right now.  Why go through the hassle of a private purchase when you can buy it in a retail store for the same price?

Uhhh.....Because it's not labeled for individual sale, you can't reference lot numbers for any ammo issues/recalls, and other than the head stamp, you have no idea the mfg date or what you're shooting?  One of those reasons.  How often have you purchased bulk anything (from food to hygiene products to any consumer good) that inside of the bulk packaging the individual products state, "Not labeled for individual sale"?

Yep people are paying $50.00 dollers for 500 rounds if they think about it,but alot of times they don't look at it that way.  Oh well they are still getting a fair price for 22 LR.

I know the labels you mention, but there is no such label on any bulk packs of ammo I've ever seen.

There is nothing illegal about reselling factory loaded ammo. As far as no info goes - that's up to the buyer if they think its worth it but doesn't make it illegal. And that "not for individual resale" is to tell the consumer that the manufacture did not intend for it to be sold that way. Still doesn't make reselling any less legal. As long as the seller does not try to hide or mislead, no laws are broken.

I hear about them a lot and have still yet to go there.  I will one day......

It's just that I RARELY go to LGS's.  I almost always buy online.

Because the ammo inside of it isn't in individual wrappers such as the aforementioned products.  Buying a bulk pack of soda is going to yield you a bunch of individual bottles -- bottles which are individual containers -- all labeled with consumer information as far as the contents of the bottle.  A bulk pack of .22lr is ONE pack, with loose ammunition inside.  Now, if this were a bulk pack of CCI mini mags that were sold in those individual plastic sleeves of 50, packaged into a bulk pack of 10 of those sleeves, that would be totally different.

There is absolutely no consumer label on a sandwich bag of split up .22lr from a -- say -- Federal bulk pack.

I stopped there.

I would hope that it wasn't illegal to sell ammunition.  That would be a total infringement on our rights.

Food products are different than non-food items.  I know of no consumer labeling requirement for ammunition.  Same goes for golf balls and other non-food items.  Of course I could be wrong, and there could be some law that requires a label on every golf ball sold or every bullet purchased, but I don't know about it.

I'm kind of 50/50 on the place. I had them set up a bow for me and had a good experience.  Was in there today and they had AE  .40sw for 23$ and  independence 556 for just under 11$ a box. Not wally prices but better than most lgs. I've come to realize that most (not all) gun shops lack a certain level of customer service. Unless your a regular .

I completely agree but at most gun stores you can generally get some type of service. The last visit I made there I had just sold my chopper and on the way home with a couple large in my pocket I figured I would swing in and look at acogs as I've had one on the list for a while. Walked to the back counter and it was empty, only a couple associates at the far end playing with a few guns and one on the computer. I look to see what they have and low and behold they have the exact model I wanted a ta31fg. I remember the price being a little high as to be expected but not to bad and already had the the go ahead from the wife to buy an optic since I sold a toy. I thought if i like im buying it. I stood there for 15-20 minutes being the only customer at the counter while they screwed off. After that long a couple of them walked to the front counter so left and havnt been back since.

I dont like there business practice. I was up there to buy primer and when i asked the guy behind the counter i would like to buy large rifle primer he said "we don't sell one primer we only sell  box of 1,000 primer." HMM no shit. why would i buy just 1 primer.

people go to target world because there aren't any where else near by, they have a great location right next to the highway. most people that just shoot 2 or 3 times a year usually not going be as inform as people on ar15.com. they don't care if they pay a few more dollars. let get serious targetworld make a living by selling gun and other things to people that we consider newbie.

the only reason why i buy primer from them is because i don't want to pay $30 per 1k primer and another $30 for haz fee.

Check out Point Blank in Blue Ash. Much better Range, Shop, and Customer Service. Its right off of Creek Rd. between Kenwood and I-71 if you aren't familiar with them. I have had all the same experiences with Target World the couple times that I have stopped in there. Will not go back there myself.
