Since Ohio gave tax breaks to the motion picture industry, why are we not offering tax credits to the firearms industry. Given the number of companies that are looking to move (Colt, Berreta, Magpul), what is being done on the state level to attract these companies? Other states such as TX, KY and VA are already jumping on this, but Ohio has not done anything. Please take the time to write your state reps and politely tell them that if Ohio can give tax breaks to a bunch of Hollywood liberals, then there is NO EXCUSE on why we cant offer incentives to the firearms industry! |

Even with incentives, OH is a high business tax state.
On top of that, the state went for Obama. If i owned or controlled anything to do with firearms it sure as hell wouldn't be moved here. Taxes would be minor compared to the "atmosphere" of the settling location. |

I'd be heading to Texas myself. Ohio is trending toward the democrat side, nothing to see there. |

That being the case, there should be an effort done at the state level to at least try to make us more attractive to the firearms industry. |

You just don't spend the kind of money to move a company like that to a location the is questionable to be following the D's path. While it would be nice to have some more firearm industry within the state, I'd be happy with more industry period within the state. |

I work for a prop shop here in Ohio. Don't fool yourself, the tax breaks are a joke. There is a part of a large film being filmed here this summer. 1 film, part of it, that's it.
Our state taxes are obscene. The tax breaks are nothing to brag about so I wouldn't get too excited about it. Other states have real tax breaks and get the film business. The small time crap here is 99% SyFy and Halmark Channel. Nothing anyone with testosterone would care about. Don't get worked up over tax breaks that are not good enough to bring real business into the state. ETA we make blank ammunition, blank adapting parts to make the weapons work with blanks and dummy ammo for props. We are one of the largest outside of Hollywood. The state of Ohio doesn't give 2 shits about us. |
